Say cheese - Podcast

A special international break episode of the Open All R's Podcast was convened on Wednesday evening to discuss Project Big Picture.

Plans cooked up by the biggest six clubs in the Premier League and EFL CEO Rick Parry would have seen a 25% share of top division television revenues shared among EFL clubs, something they have long campaigned for.

However, the catches, clauses and strings were numerous. The Premier League would be cut to 18 teams, and only the bottom two automatically relegated. The League Cup and Community Shield would be ditched to clear space for more Champions League football. More damagingly, the current system of one vote per Premier League team would change allowing the big six to push through reforms, which would inevitably include more games abroad, and the individual sale of television rights by each club, potentially soon leaving the EFL with 25% of nothing.

To discuss the fall out, football finance expert Kieran Maguire guested along with former QPR, FA and Wembley Stadium exec Jim Frayling. Flo Lloyd-Hughes hosted with Clive Whittingham and Paul Finney making up the regulars.
