Would think it'll be online later, but he's not happy about the situation.

Over two weeks since it hit the press and there's been nothing further. Did any of the Dale fans who contacted the council get a reply?

Tazzy you do realise that Brett is a Labour councillor? The club is also in disbute with a Labour run council?

Never let the facts get in the way of a good rant. Ed Balls being in charge on the economy gives me nightmares.

It probably gives Ed Balls nightmares too!

Agree, but imagine you were a small business owner.

Nightmares? Luxury, paradise.

If I think about that scenario, I can't get to sleep!

The King is spot on Politicians Lie Lie Lie Lie surprised the Tory's & Lib's have worked so well together but saying that aren't Lib's just closet Tory's? I don't mind the Politicians who actually aren't sold their soul's to the devil, Next Year will be an interesting General Election it'll probably see Lib Dem's go bust & Tory's become the 3rd Party behind Labour & UKIP just because the people are fed up of Mr Cameron & His policy's targeting the sick, disabled and venerable in this country. Yet protecting the threat what exists, he need's to wake up and notice the war he has caused!

Something possibly for the club to look at in relation to the councils stance especially point 1a

994 Companies Act 2006 - Petition by company member

(1)A member of a company may apply to the court by petition for an order under this Part on the ground–
(a)that the company's affairs are being or have been conducted in a manner that is unfairly prejudicial to the interests of members generally or of some part of its members (including at least himself), or
(b)that an actual or proposed act or omission of the company (including an act or omission on its behalf) is or would be so prejudicial.
[F1(1A)For the purposes of subsection (1)(a), a removal of the company's auditor from office–
(a)on grounds of divergence of opinions on accounting treatments or audit procedures, or
(b)on any other improper grounds, shall be treated as being unfairly prejudicial to the interests of some part of the company's members.]
(2)The provisions of this Part apply to a person who is not a member of a company but to whom shares in the company have been transferred or transmitted by operation of law as they apply to a member of a company.
(3)In this section, and so far as applicable for the purposes of this section in the other provisions of this Part, “company” means–
(a)a company within the meaning of this Act, or
(b)a company that is not such a company but is a statutory water company within the meaning of the Statutory Water Companies Act 1991 (c. 58).

There are only 3 members in this matter RAFC with 500,000 shares, RFL With 500,000 shares and RMBC with 100,000 shares.

I'm not well up on politics, local councils, etc, but just bumped into my local councillor on the train home from Sowerby Bridge tonight and he said he's going to get in touch with Brett tomorrow, initially to ask why he hasn't at least had the decency to acknowledge the emails he's been sent.

Let's see if that makes any difference.

Thanks Matt - hopefully we are at 'narrowing the issues' stage leading to a resolution before thought of court action. Sure Mr Dunphy well aware of the Companies Act and will be using the same to focus all parties' minds all round - got us talking again on here about it for a start.

KH doesn't need to get involved with speaking to the media about it - understandably he's frustrated with it - as delay will put on ice all other budgetary functioning of the club - but KH is KH - and his statements can't really do harm.

Best thing we can do as supporters is use social media and email to put pressure to force the issue into the open. The politician's natural temptation is to prevaricate and overthink the issue. Send an email to allen.brett@rochdale.gov.uk or the Ob.

Why don't we get someone with a bit of brains to write up an email and post it on here so we (the thick and lazy) could copy and paste it and fill up Mr Brett's inbox with emails
re:Mr Brett, why you no answer?
You could even video yourself sending it and call it "the email Mr Brett challenge" people love to jump on a bandwagon without really knowing why. Soon we'd have Bill Gates, wee jimmy krankie and H from steps all sending him emails.

I'd be surprised if Hilly's use of words haven't been sanctioned by the club.

He's possibly in a position (as an employee) to say it as it is, whereas similar accusations from a director might be problematic. This could be their way of bringing the issue into the open, or at least attempting to restore some momentum to resolving ownership of the stadium.

I've watched the interview on Daleplayer and it definitely seems a deliberate ploy. He is asked a few questions by Martin and he answers them in the way you would expect (Bristol are a great team, happy with a point etc) but as soon as the BBC interviewer takes over he changes tack; he is essentially asked two questions, and both he turns into answers which are about the stadium company politics.

I'm led to believe there was a Stadium Company meeting not long before his Radio Manc interview where he was present alongside the RFL's representative Paul Ormrod (London based former Hornets benefactor who I think paid their rent for the first two years following the reformation) and the matter was discussed at that meeting.

What I would like is the council to address the issue. Their silence is deafening.

Should push come to shove and legal action is required (e.g. section 1a of the Companies Act as outlined in an earlier post), the club will have to tread carefully, in that any public statement needs to be seen as whiter than white and not prejudicial to legal proceedings. I can therefore understand their reluctance to issue any statements other than the one(s) already issued; and also why having KH refer to it as an alternative method of drawing public attention to the situation is a probability.

Spot on.

Something has prompted Hill's comments yesterday. Given he's a club employee (a real one), I would think it only right the club back up or expand on what he said.

I'd also expect it of the club on moral grounds, but less so the council.

Doesn't that assume that KH might have qualms about what he said?

It must (surely?) have been discussed with his employers in advance, and if KH is ok with taking that stance with the media I applaud him. I don't think the club need to expand in public on that, but would fully expect them to do so if required and when the time was right.

Brett would simply treat a mass influx of messages as 'spam'. Perhaps if all the e-mails were copied in to Richard Darnell, the council leader, there might be a more meaningful response.

If Rochdale was Hull for example, Brett would be tripping over himself to answer emails and questions for fear of a genuine fans backlash at the polls.

As it is, our fanbase is small enough to be ignored which leaves our stadium company in majority control of the national RL who have no interest in RAFC's affairs and a council who have no interest in RAFC's affairs.

A long cry from the original position where Hornets moved to Spotland for equal benefits and the council were involved to represent the populace.
