O'Connell is going back to Blackburn and I wouldn't be looking to extend the loans of Cywka or RNL. I think we need another centre half, perhaps one with experience. We are crying out for another forward option, especially one with pace as although Andrew tries hard and is often scapegoated he rarely makes an impact when brought on. With Lund likely to be out for most of the season midfield depth is also an area that could benefit from another body unless Hilly is prepared to trust Cannon and/or Camps for more than just the occasional substitute appearance.
Obviously if the transfer rumours surrounding Allen and Tanser are true we will need replacements for them. |  | | |  |

Agree with that. Centre half and another striking option as Andrew isn't the answer. Prime example being against Fleetwood, their defence had no trouble with our attackers and it was screaming out for another option or approach that we didn't have.
Done and Henderson have been a surprise package in first half of the season - it won't last as players, coaches and managers suss us out! |  | | |

Centre backs - need McGinty not up to it, urgent cover needed
Midfield - take Lund out - cover needed
Attack - goals scored suggests unlikely but with andrew, bunney and Muldoon not being prolific then a chance

Unlikely as it is why not go for Ellison - proven, all be it near end of career, works hard, versetile, scores goals and would be cheap.
I sort of get the feeling we are almost happy with mid table and developing players this season - just a feeling but 4 players in with quality may be enough to push for Play Offs - CF, Midfielder ,C Back and Keeper.
Am exciled so know little other than injuries etc but squad is looking lightweigh in places currently! |  |

Centre-half definitely required now O'Connell has gone back. I'd love to see us sign an experienced, organised leader at the back as more than anything I think Eastham could really benefit from having a player in that mould alongside him. Would also surely help sort us out with our poor defending of set pieces.

Up top, something is required. I think the people who are claiming we need a proven goalscorer need to have a look at Done and Henderson's goalscoring exploits this season. Proven goalscorers don't come cheap and we've got two players who have excellent records so far this term. We just need another option, a plan B when it isn't working for those two, as it's very obvious to everyone that Andrew isn't the answer and that Bunney isn't ready yet (or perhaps never will be, who knows.) Not sure what the situation is with Muldoon but he's flattered to deceive in the games I've seen him play in so far. We can't expect Henderson and Done to be the answer in every match. |  |

Good post. Don't forget Vincenti's goals,we have a three pronged attack when we can keep them on the pitch. Muldoon and Bunney seem a long way off the first team and struggle to make the bench so we can discount them this season i think. I would love Andrew to prove us all wrong but he frustrates the hell out of me, he does have potential but will it ever come to fruition, maybe not.
I think the rumour regarding Tanser must be true, how else can you explain why he has been wrapped in cotton wool for so long? Alongside Done he has been our stand out performer and sorry but after a third of the season he doesn't need resting for what seems like an eternity, how many times as Tanser played in the last couple of months? Resting Allen doesn't make sense neither and Hilly stated a couple of weeks ago that we had a clean bill of health. In this league you can't afford to field a weakened team and keep your best performers in the stands.
Defensively we need a big strong centre half and if Tanser goes a left back. I also think we have a weakness at right back and don't particularly rate Rafferty, petulant and ill disciplined spring to mind.
So to conclude I think we are in for a busy few weeks with plenty of shape shifting, send all the loan players back because none of them are obviously good enough to impact on the first team and let's see if we can get some permanent signings in. I don't have a problem selling Tanser and Allen if we get the right money after all that's the blueprint of the club and its a good one. Let's secure another season in league one and I would like to see more of Cannon and Camps, they look real prospects. [Post edited 31 Dec 2014 7:17]

Ellison is an excellent shout. If not then simply someone with a decent record of finishing chances. We are capable of creating enough. Would prefer an experienced head.
Happy with Lillis as a keeper unless Hilly can find us another top notch Logan level keeper.
Would like to see us get a Richard Jobson style master stroke experienced centre back.
Lund, Hery, Dawson and Allen are all excellent CM and Hilly seems to be a fan of young Cannon as well. [Post edited 1 Jan 2015 13:58]

We don't want another Muldoon/Shaw.
We have done well up to this stage without a striker but we must sign a goalscorer if we are to kick on from now until the end of the season.
Not to get all billy big bollocks but when you see League 2 clubs who aren't even as big as us with miles better strike forces then you realise how light we really are in that position. |  | | |

A proven striker( not 10 goals in 10 years) is a necessity, since teams will work out our counter attack Done/Hendo combination. Their strike forces may be better - in League Two. Whether they will have the same success a division higher is a moot point.
Keith Hill isn't daft and doesn't waste money. As he always says, he is constantly looking to improve the squad but will only do so by bringing in players - buying players - that are better than those we already have.

Just heard a rumour about Jason Scotland and then checked and found he has left Hamilton to get more game time
I think Hilly had him at Barnsley so will know what he can do, his experience will also be good for the younger players as it states in the link
He might fill the slot of a COG type player at least till the end of the season????
