All we can do is win and cement that 7th spot and maybe put a little pressure on Chesterfield - there is a good chance that even though Bristol City are champs already they will be very awkward opposition for Chesterfield to beat - atleast if we win tonight they will have to beat them to be sure of that last play off spot . Chesterfield could be promoted tonight? Preston and MKD fans mightn't agree (though I doubt any will turn up).
But Chesterfield have done well in exactly two months since 21 February when they lost 1-0 at Spotland, taking 26 points from a possible 36. Dale in the same period took 19 points from 42 (had we taken a similar points per game, we'd be looking forward to the play-offs).
But as it's often been said, L1 has been odder than usual this year. For example, last Tuesday night Swindon were described as the best attacking side to visit Spotland this season. Four days later they lost 1-0 at home to the doomed Yeovil (who had reaped 7 points from a possible 42 in their 14 previous games).
As for tonight, I'd expect Orient's strategy to be one of parking the bus while hoping to grab a breakaway goal. But this being L1, they might perform like Swindon a week ago. | | | |
