Jan Transfer Window - Ins and Outs 15:48 - Dec 13 with 5800 viewsstigmundo77

Thought I would get the ball rolling

Ins -

one strapping experienced centre half
One defensive midfielder
One Nippy striker - Would love Done back on loan

Outs

RNL - Not consistent enough for me and not challenging the existing squad, time to move on
Keane - Controversial but if asking for more money , then I'd go for a bigger official center half
Sales - Think Allen, Camps, NML and maybe Hendo may attract offers?

Camps is under contract for next season, can’t see him going. Keane I think will sign if affordable. Hendo said he’s not going to play for anyone else so can’t see that one. Allen and NML will depend on contracts - I’d imagine talks will have taken place.

Plus we only have the word of a Cambridge fan about Keane's allleged wage demands.

I believe Hill said on Sunday he was hoping to make the deal permanent.

Keane In - at least 18 month deal

RNL out - permanently

And trust Hilly's judgement on replacements for anyone who is sold would do me fine.

Poll: Now the club has refused to move on sesaon ticket prices what will you now do?

Scott Hogan of course will make a difference. Early departure from brentford changes everything.

If you guys get some decent money for Hogan, it must be worth preparing a good bid for Fylde's Danny Rowe? Would fit Dale's system perfectly.

I'm not sure Hogan will go anywhere at the moment, unless it's for silly money that Brentford can't turn down.
Brentford have stuck by him while he was injured and I think he will show a bit of loyalty for another season.

Sat 5th

8 consecutive home league wins.

3rd round of the FA cup....

Why the need for change? As we are would do me...

Ok hogan going for millions and Keane on a full time contract - only a minor tweak required not major surgery.

Most of all place all your trust in the magician that is Keith hill!!!

I think if Hogan goes for big money all of it will go on the stadium. What's left in debt and also renovating the place.

For me I'm hoping for very little movement in transfers from our side let's just keep what we've got until the end of the season and keep going. No need to rock the boat.

Cambridge who are still in The FA Cup have already allowed Keane to play in The FA Cup for us so
I would imagine from that there is already a deal in place.

No chance of Matty who is a Starter under Wilder, Alf would be a good loan signing given he's mostly on the bench at Wigan

I'm sure somebody (D_Alien?) posted the calculations the other day and if Hogan were to go for, say, £10m, then we'd have comfortably enough to pay for the stadium whilst having plenty left over. Plus, I'm also sure that I read that all the money for the stadium has already been put aside from the Done sale.

Agreed re: Keane - think something has already been agreed.

Don't know if Hill will attempt to deepen the squad instead of the first team? For example if Rafferty got injured we have no recognised replacement (I never want to see Cannon wasted there again). Mcgahey, Keane, McNulty and Canavan are a good enough four man cover for central positions to see us through hopefully. Tanser and Bunney will suffice at LB.

Wing cover at present we have Thompson, RNL, NML, Andrew (if used RW), Henderson (if used LW), Vincenti, Cannon (if used RW), Odelusi, Hooper, Rathbone (possibly although appears to be best more central)

CM/CDM/CAM we have Lund, Cannon, Camps, Allen, Keane (if needed), Henderson, Morely, Vincenti, Donal, Reuben - I would say that this is an area where a couple of injuries could leave us drastically short

CF/ST we have Davies, Andrew, JT, NML, Henderson, Vincenti, Odelusi, RNL, Gillam - again another area were Hill could be looking to improve.

Think that shows the strength in depth which we have across numerous positions as well as identifying a couple of areas we could be looking to strengthen.

I can see Tanser and RNL given an opportunity to find another club.

Odelusi to go back to Wigan and a forward in on loan.

Keane will hopefully stay.

I've a feeling Camps may go for decent money, he's playing very well atm.

Everything thats been, has past. The answers in the looking glass!

We have a good squad, and should be looking for minimum disruption.

I hope Keith Keane stays, but if not it might be worth keeping an eye on Rory McArdle's situation at Bratfud; seems to be out of the first XI there, and is a known quantity with lots of experience.

Also worth monitoring ALF, again a known quantity and more than useful.

If we receive a good offer for NML, then a potential replacement could be Danny Mayor from the nether side of Heywood, with any fee waived in lieu of the outstanding advance ticket money...:-)

Hill mentioned that David Owusu on Sunday. Said he could be used in the new year - seemed very impressed with his progress. Also that 15 year old kid who was 2 days too young to be registered for the EFL trophy - said he was SOME prospect but obviously his time will come.

I was responding to Yorkshire_Dale who thought that if we got £1.8m as a sell on for Hogan it wouldn't be enough to cover the loan taken out to pay for the stadium

It's all hypothetical of course, but one of the features of Hilly's recent pronouncements has been his clear-eyed assessment of our financial situation - no, more than that - an acceptance in his tone that we're a club that survives and flourishes by nurturing talent to sell on, and that he's relatively happy to be the manager overseeing this

It's one thing knowing this, and another accepting and making the most of the career enjoyment it offers, and that's what i've been reading into it

Donal has been injured but was there a rumour that he/his agent were after a pay hike too, which might have upset the Management?

Donal is another one who owes Hilly for a resurrected career.

There's no intrinsic factor which should create that glass ceiling. Riding high in the table doesn't automatically lead to the sale of players; rather, a cumulative process of upgrading the quality of the squad seems to be taking place whereby the sale of one or even two assets shouldn't upset the applecart.

When we sold Done, our attack revolved around his pace and guile. I strongly believe we were right to sell him (he had a release clause in any case) since our overall squad was nowhere near strong enough to survive at a higher level. Whilst there's still work to do, I also believe we're in a much more favourable position now, including ownership of the stadium, and from strength in depth. Maybe we've already broken the glass bottom

Glass ceiling was in reference to losing too much talent being a progress-stopper, but Hilly's sausage factory of talented youth just keeps producing so we never seem to miss a step, even with all the injuries this season. You are bang on - the quality of the squad keeps getting better (in terms of performance/results) with lots of interchangeable players and barely a fall-off in performance when the preferred choice at any position is unavailable.

Also agree with your comments on the Done sale and I said at the time, it's surely better to make a push for promotion when we have consolidated and improved more. Maybe we are nearly there now or close to getting there?

And glass bottomed girls they make the rocking world go round.

Aye, got your comment re glass ceiling - the glass bottom is where the sale of one player leads to the arse dropping out of a side

But... if your glass is always half full, you never see the bottom!

In regards to Allen - here are some past compensation payments for out of contract players under 24. Other than Danny Ings - the amounts are quite 'underwhelming'.
