5.6 million peak.

Guessing the largest ever television audience for a dale match ?

Poll: Attention man united fans - who do you want to win the premier league?

Would guestimate that this figure is probably a lot more actual viewing. Many people outside the UK would have watched via other channels and streaming sites (me included). Americans love the FA cup too and most would watch ESPN etc.

Rochdale did themselves proud and it was a massive advert for the club and town. So much talk about the game amongst social circles and amateur football in Perth. Roll on next week.

I read that a recent EPL game on Sky got 600K viewers. Our figure is huge!

I had an email from an ex school friend residing in Ocean Grove near Melbourne. He wrote that he had seen Davies equaliser on the local TV news. I also know of two families who watched the match in the Tampa Bay area.

I was thinking about this earlier - we've waited sooo long for a huge home cup game - all my lifetime in fact - and then add to that it's live to the nation and the world - for us to have played so well and matched such a terrific Premier League side like Tottenham is beyond belief - talk about rising to the challenge and doing yourself proud. Every player was immense.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Absolutely ddb

Everything about the day was hugely positive, even the Spurs fans seem to have enjoyed it despite their team not winning. It will have transformed the view of our football club in so many people's eyes, whose view - if they had one at all - would probably have been negative, or dismissive

It's a good job we've got a full record on tv recorders. Mine won't ever be erased. Even a few days on, there's an almost surreal element to it

We should seek to continue generating goodwill. It's one reason why i'm disappointed to read negative comments about the match, although i know its part and parcel of football. It'd just be great to concentrate on the overwhelming positivity generated on a Sunday afternoon in February, in Rochdale. I think we probably made the lives of the millions who watched just that little bit happier!

I was lucky enough to receive a ticket from my mate's dad who was working.
Likewise my recording will never be deleted. Probably the best moment I've seen for Dale. Scenes were unreal everyone lost their limbs.
Just praying we back it up with a statement tonight against MK. But even if we get relegated I'll remember that moment for a long, long time.

Sadly not. His visa to leave Somerset had expired.

Last night whilst collecting Goldbond,my round consists of precisely zero Rochdale fans, but the game on Sunday was the number one topic of conversation at virtually every house I called. Many, and I mean many, of these customers commented that it was the best game of football they had seen on TV in many years and that it was difficult to tell at times which was the higher ranked team.

The number that screamed in unadulterated joy at our equaliser was immense also.

Alli's contribution was also commented on in a similar vein to those who thought he over-reacted to contact in order to embellish and ensure an advantage.

Poll: What is it to be then?

I don't know if there is a suggestion box at the club, but if so, could they be persuaded along the lines that now is the time to release details of next years "unbelievable" ST offer and here's a flyer about it for exactly these people?

We've got an open net in front of us. At least shoot. We might miss, but we won't score if we don't have a shot!

Up the Dale - NOT for sale!

It was shown on TV here in South Australia too. What great promotion for Dale, it made me immensely proud to hear people talking about it.

The amount of people that have said, how are we bottom of the league after that is unreal. Talking to these neutral people, they now have an interest in if we can get off the bottom of the league and stay up. Have heard from a good few people that they will be getting up for the replay next week as well. Never before have I heard such positive things from the general football community. A few league wins has the potential to really get a media frenzy happening and generate some interest from the neutrals. If (and it’s a big if) we avoid relegation, it will be monumentus. A huge week coming up!!

Proud to be a dale fan

Wouldn't be surprised if it got decent viewing figures in the US - it was on Fox Sports 1, and on a Sunday morning at a reasonable time, with little sporting competition other than the Olympics.

I have a work colleague who watched the game live in a busy pub in Cork...

He told me the pub "erupted" when Davies popped that late goal in to make it 2-2.

Crazy scenes in a Cork pub he told me!

It made the sports news here in Australia. SBS,the so called soccer channel, had it on their Monday evening news sports section, even commenting about Alli`s dubious penalty award. I`m sure the replay will be on Fox Sports next Thursday morning our time,so I`ll certainly be watching it as I scoff my cornflakes and toast. Hope the whole club will embellish the Wembley experience,a true milestone for the club and town and my god, don`t both need it.
