A fair amount.

There should be no company offering cheaper coach travel than our official one for this trip. If the coach company are going to hold the club to ransom on an occasion like this then I'd suggest the club subsiding some of it- £20.00 seems reasonable- and then saying goodbye to the company as soon as any contract could permit.

This trip is a reward for Rochdale fans- and their family and friends. Not a fleecing trip.

Totally agree can’t believe other companies are cheaper,it does seem Dale always manage to cock something up and there was me hoping for a small subsidy!!

I think it is worth considering, but I'm meeting with brother and mates this evening to discuss our plans for travel.

I've one son definitely and a second possibly going so need to understand implications on their missing school.

I don't want them to turn out thick like me.

Me and my son would definitely be interested if you book anything and have room - maybe also a family of 3 dependent on their little uns school.

That's one hell of a burden to impose on kids that age?

Edit: misread it as "dependent on their little 'uns at school" Sorry!

Wembley coach travel on 16:33 - Feb 21 with 2563 viewsjudd

Coach company has now emailed me a reduced price:

Your journey details are:
Vehicle Category: 53 Seater Coach - Standard
Pickup: Rochdale, UK
Pickup Time: 28/02/2018 12:30
Destination: Wembley Stadium, Wembley, London, UK
Via Location:
Return Time: 28/02/2018 23:00
No. of Passengers: 53
Journey Type: Return
Vehicle To Stay: Yes

Price: £1045.60

That's £19.73 per person.

I haven't even started to negotiate with them yet.

If I can get a one-off coach at that price with minimal effort, what are the club actually paying per coach and at what mark up to fans?

If they got the same deal as me they are marking up by 77%, or 44% profit margin.

The club coach is always overpriced, I'm surprised someone doesn't organise a coach for all our away travel

People will now be using the club coaches out of necessity rather than preference because of that pricing decision. Other options are being explored as a matter of principle.

Really cannot understand why the club don’t utilise the Trust/fans rep when making decisions, just to get a feel for how fans might react. They create so many unnecessary problems.

At £25 a head, they’d sell a lot more seats. If this thread is any indication to how the majority think, pricing it high may see them losing out on coach loads of people using them

Always been full when I've used it, they have cancelled in past if no demand or put smaller vehicle on. The club must be making £10 a head on this one. Would have been nice to do a fleet at cost

If I live to be a hundred I'll never understand the mind-set of the decision makers at this football club. On the one hand they make that terrific, generous gesture on the Millwall game for all fans but especially ST holders. On the other they do this. They have goodwill aplenty and fail to capitalise on it. There is nothing joined up at all. If my hair wasn't becoming more naturally fine by the day I'd be ripping it out.

I’ll play a bit of Devils advocate here.

Say the basic hire of the coach is £1100. However the company may need to draft in other companies on a freelance with potential demand so for them to make so they add on 10% for their admin in organising this. So make it £1200 per coach. Then there is other add ons. Potentially their coaches don’t meet the Emission Zone criteria which adds on potentially £200 per coach. The parking at the stadium for a coach (which Judd may have not been quoted for can also reach £150+ (just checked and private coaches can use a nearby Wembley Park car park for £90))

So with a bit of give and take on the add ons we will call it a total of £1500 per coach. Obviously you wouldn’t want a break even point being made on the last seat sold, and there would be club admin factors as well. So say 45 seats is reasonable to account for that. That works out at £33.33 per person (not accounting for the extra VAT burden to be paid on anything charged over the costs which can be claimed back - with these figures a full coach would mean the club profits about £5.60 per person after VAT if the coach is fully booked.

I also presume Judd’s quote includes VAT as well as a lot of businesses in this sector which generally deal mainly with other business rather than the public quote plus VAT which is something to be careful of

Not any more . Spoke with Soccer Express and they have pulled out of providing any coaches. When asked why they said they could not explain "over the phone" but referred me to the club price of £35, Hmmmmm the plot thickens.
