Poll: Greatest Ever Dale Game

1
Match thread: MKDons on 22:10 - Feb 21 with 2799 views1907

Pathetic, negative management.

There was no need to maintain the back five in the second half when youco sider the midfield options on the bench.

We predictably ran out of steam and were left with two teams scared to death of losing.

Absolute garbage.

The only interesting thing about tonight's game - it was seven weeks since our last home league game, the dismal 0-1 defeat to Blackpool on NYD

Positives:

We didn't lose
We moved off the bottom of the table
No-one got badly injured
We've got a very secure crossbar at the Pearl St end
Steve Davies regained a bit more match fitness

That's about it, really

Very very poor. 2 teams that will be in League Two next season. That's survival gone now for me. They were extremely bad and we were no better.

Poor from Hill too, the game needed something and all the changes were like for like and there was no urgency to change a game that flatlined after Cannon hit the bar.

Apart from starting really well? Hitting the bar twice and a ball across the goal line that somehow evaded everyone. I suppose if Hill had changed the starting line up and we'd drawn 0-0 you'd be saying "why did he change it"?
It's a point and we are off the bottom - just need to win at Wigan now! 😉

Very depressed after that. Have held out hope for our survival up to tonight, now I fear we are definitely doomed to league 2.

That is another draw to add to list of draws this season, which is almost double every other team in league 1 and as somebody else as said draws are not good enough, I suspect that KH will be happy not to concede a goal or get beat, but MK Dons were poor. But same old Dale, over past the ball and try to walk the ball into the net, I am becoming convinced that KH is more happy with a draw then a win, in that the team will not take a chance and play very conservatively, with out entertainment, it is poor to watch.

No doubt KH will be happy with us in the bottom and potentially relegation, in that his all talk, he seems to talk about, how we should be in league 2 with out budget and I am a supporter of KH, but most question is how his negative attitude is influencing team tactics and performances.

Well that’s another nail in the coffin. I’d been conviced that we’re going down for weeks now, but admittedly got a little giddy after Sunday thinking we might put a run together. Not any more.

So frustrating to watch as the changes made absolutely no difference when the opposition was there for the taking. We started and finished the game with 5 defenders which says it all really.

Could have been so different if cannon had scored (which he really should have), as we started really brightly- but how many times have we said that this season?

I thought Humphrys was really poor tonight, looked genuinely disinterested from the first minute but hopefully it’s fitness and not attitude that’s the problem.

5 wins now from 29, and if you can’t beat a team as bad as MK dons were tonight at home, you certainly aren’t winning 9 from 17. Veggie pies in Nailsworth anyone?

Another positive: Pitch seems to hold up reasonably well and didn't suffer too much having had Hornets on it.

Negatives: I thought we'd turned a corner. 5 good games on the bounce (apparently) - 3 away and 2 home - not necessarily all wins, but now we reverted to early season form. After Sunday, I'll give a half pass to the team tonight, but we're edging nearer and nearer to the last chance saloon.

Final comment on tonight - if that's the best we can do in L1, I suggest we don't bother with football for the rest of our home games. May as well just concede the 3 points, let Sweetbreads spin whatever disks he fancies at full volume, don the ear defenders and learn sign language so we can chat away and watch the pitch grow.

The quote below, from officiallydale, refers to the point (in a rare acknowledgement from Hilly that he is aware of - presumably - fans' criticisms).

KH QUOTES | I thought the lads were magnificent to a certain degree, because when you’re mentally & physically tired, concentration levels are affected. The easiest thing for me to do would have been to change 6, 7 or 8 players, but then I would have been criticised for that #RAFC

Bless him! Does he really care what people think to the extent that it influences his team selection?

Match thread: MKDons on 23:08 - Feb 21 with 2306 viewsNorthernDale

KH is quoted to have on Rochdale's Twitter account, said the second half was a success because we did not concede a goal and so implying that tonight's result was a good result in that we did not get beat. KH tonight was a disaster in that we need to win the game and so cannot be described a success at all.

If this is mentality then what hope have we, if he thinks a draw is the answer in our position, rather then a win, then my assessment that he as no interest in keeping us in league 1. To be honest for the first time in decades of watching the Dale, if I had to pay on the night to watch the game, instead of using my season ticket, then I would consider sitting at home. The team performances are so poor and lacking any entertainment, is KH seems proud of that fact due to what he said after the game. His tactics seem to be why send out a team to win, when a draw is better.

If he can't take criticism from a crowd of 2,300 people then what does he expect when he eventually moves on?

Deary me, why can't he just come out and say he got it wrong for once instead of making excuses and blaming other people? The subs he made were poor and didn't change the game one bit. They were like for like with no change in shape or tempo.

The cup is a nice distraction but its not our bread and butter. First ten minutes of the first half we were superb and MK were for the taking then we took our foot off the gas and reverted back to the piss about at the back and be to scared to have a shot on goal side we have been all season.

Humphrys was awful tonight! Looked disinterested and struggled to win the ball in the air. The quicker Calvin Andrew gets back the better! Fingers crossed he’ll be starting against Spurs.

As predicted it's the fans fault. Can the manager of this club really get away with saying 'don't turn up' when we have 2,300 fans at the game as it is. Fans being keyword, the core who have been there long before and long after Keith Hill. The happy clappers from Sunday are the flavour but the core who had to endure yet another well below par, lacklustre performance get criticised.

How can the fans be positive when you are served up with a performance like tonight? Keith Hill is a self-righteous, obnoxious w*anker and for all the good he has done I seriously can't stomach the man. He will never go on to manage at a club bigger than Rochdale. Because based on this season alone, I don't think he would survive season like we have faced this season anywhere else. He seriously cannot handle a little bit of heat from 2,300 fans? I bet his wife is fastening the pressstuds on his baby grow on as we speak.

Thought we started off very brightly tonight, high energy, high pressing and created a few chances, hit the bar twice.

If everything was black and white, MK Dons came for a draw. Football isn't that simple and although there was time wasting and the usual, after the initial flurry they were as threatening as us.

We were desperate for a win, they were ok with a draw and a win would be a bonus. Totally different mentality.

MK Dons matched us, that's hardly surprising between two teams now 1 position apart.

There were a good few tennis ball bounces from the pitch and the odd bobble too, which didn't help either team.

As the second half wore on, our chances diminished and they got more to the fore.

Fair result in the end, no lack of effort from either team and basically nullified each other. That doesn't make either team poor, just equally matched.

On last point. If somebody had told me that a ginger player would feign injury tonight, there would have only have been one name on my lips. I was wrong.

Ridiculous comment by Hill. The team didn't turn up and brought anxiety to the fans. Again.

The cup run has been bloody tremendous. Fact.

We've been awful for far too many league games this year. Fact. Last night in particular.

Hill didn't mention the thousands of "Dale fans" who didn't turn up tonight, but were there on Sunday, he just had a pop at the loyal ones who did and always do attend.

For the fans going to Wigan, give 'em something to praise instead of the poor 5 wins from 29 league games form (worst in the division) that causes the criticism Hill deservedly has had this season. We saw precious little to cheer about after the 15th minute v franchise.

People were behind the team when they were attacking. The sandy was louder then usual for a Tuesday night and the lads with the drum didn’t stop ( as per usual) . Is it the fans fault the team have been poor all season? Is it the fans fault the team can’t defend set pieces? Is it the fans fault that our Manager has brought shite in. Telling the lifeblood of the club to not turn up is a disgrace. The fat cooont has gone right up his own arse since he grew that ridiculous beard. Perhaps a relegation will humble the prick. Some say the clubs shot itself in the foot pricing the travel at 35 quid and shot its other foot not marketing the rest of the home games cheaper. Well as far as I’m concerned it’s just blew its cock off when the manager says things like that. Feel good factor of Sunday has gone now.

For me our league status is more important then a flash in the pan cup run. The fair weather supporters that go down to Wembley to watch our inevitable defeat won’t be there when we are in league two. If Hill can’t motivate his players for a relegation dogfight then the buck stops with him not the fans.

I'm just stunned that he said don't turn up as if its the fault of them that did those turn up, does he really believe its the fans that determine the performance on the field? he might be the best manager we have ever had but he has a shelf life like all managers do. Doesn't half talk like an idiot and an obnoxious one at that.
