Apart from starting really well? Hitting the bar twice and a ball across the goal line that somehow evaded everyone. I suppose if Hill had changed the starting line up and we'd drawn 0-0 you'd be saying "why did he change it"?
It's a point and we are off the bottom - just need to win at Wigan now! 😉

Aye...a good first 10 minutes and then we fell flat on our arses, wonder why that was?

It's no coincidence that our midfield was our best area on Sunday and our worst tonight. The lads were bloody knackered and rightly so.

This isn't a comment that was made with hindsight either - I was genuinely flabbergasted that was stuck with the same 11 and that Rathbone at the very least didn't start tonight (probably in place of Cannon after his shift on Sun).

KH is happy enough to take the praise when we're doing well banging on about how good he is and how we're always over achieving. We play crap and it's everyone else's fault, never his. Cannot stand the guy, couldn't give two sh*ts about what he has or hasn't done for Dale if that's how he constantly treats the fans who pay money to go and watch week in week out however well or bad we play. Fans that have been there since before he was born and fans that will be there long after he has left.

Go and manage a team like MK Dons or Blackburn etc and see how bigger crowds turn on you after losing 3 or 4 games and you're out of a job in 3-4 months. He's done a lot for Rochdale obviously but I don't think he appreciates what Rochdale has done for him and how easy he has it here compared to managers at other clubs in terms of fan and board support.

Exactly!

He can't wait to take the plaudits and lap it up when times are good. Every single one of us would grow more respect for him if he just came out last night and said 'We weren't good enough tonight if arguably our biggest game of the season. I think we were tired and I should of made more changes to freshen it up. It's too late now, but let's not panic, I want us to go and beat Wigan to make up for our shortfall tonight'.

The 'build up' to last nights game was non-exisitent and was the performance. That game was worth more than the Spurs game in the long term. Far more!

Before last night and those comments I had plans in place to be at Wigan and at Wembley. I had a little spring in my step. 'Let's get 3 points tonight and a point on Saturday and our season is right back on track'. Then we will use two days annual leave and make a right trip out of the Spurs game.

After the performance last night followed by those comments I am now going to reignite my invite from my egg chasing friends to go on the p^ss in Manchester on Saturday and watch the Scotland v England game. And the two days annual leave will be used for a nice long weekend in Spain. The Spanish appreciate my custom more, I never thought I'd say that!

It's one step forwards three back with this club. It desperately needs some fresh faces behind the scenes. Stinks of complacency when you lift the lid and have a look in.

The pitch was awful.... we need that cricket roller back to flatten it.

bobbles all over the place.

4 games in hand - we realistically need to win 2 of these and then and then be 5 points better than 20th between now and matchday 46.

Not impossible but very very difficult.

when we hit the crossbar twice and MK were dire first 20 I just had a feeling it might not go our way. One of those nights.

MK did improve... from shockingly bad to ordinary. 2 points dropped but we move on we cannot give up yet.

1-0 win Saturday please ( a deflection off Hendos shin or arse will do!! )

Up The Dale.

Just re-watched his interview back.

KH makes it out like the fans expected to hammer MK Dons last night purely because we'd drawn with Spurs....which is of course total bullshit.

We were 'confident' of a win because:

1) We've been performing better in the league recently, albeit with not much to show for it
2) MK Dons are in freefall and one of the only teams with the same/worse form than us
3) Our recent results and performances in the Cup should have given us that extra confidence and added impetus to at least give it a go in the league
4) It was effectively a must win when you consider that Saturday is gonna be a very very tough ask

How can he honestly think we're getting all billy bollocks because we drew against Spurs? How can he honestly say that he's happy with a point in a game of that magnitude? It was sink or swim last night and we sunk. As I've said previously, I think the players looked knackered last night and a hangover was almost inevitable after the euphoria of Sunday...especially with the same starting 11

You can't deny that Sunday raised expectations for last night. A couple of people were expecting a fistful of goals. I was expecting a victory. It didn't happen and the crowd became increasingly anxious and agitated as the game progressed. Some expressed their frustration.

It happens. I've said before that KH should wait an hour after games before he comments. I've spoken to him this morning and he is upbeat, chirpy and has a spring in his step.

Move on.

Naturally, a result like Sunday would mean that some supporters were expecting a barnstorming performance again but most of the sensible fans knew how unlikely that was given our season as a whole.

However, the supporters weren't wrong to expect a victory against an MK Dons team who were poor on paper and extremely poor in person. I honestly don't care what his mood is this morning tbh but at the same time, I didn't exactly have a go at him in my post so you don't need to ride to his rescue.

There's nothing wrong with asking questions, even if they often don't get answered. I'll move on when he stops having a go at paying fans for absolutely no reason whatsoever and as that isn't likely to happen soon, I'm quite content at staying put for the time being.

It wasn't for 'no reason whatsoever', it was for the negative and unhelpful comments that were uttered by some supporters towards the players, during the game.

I thought you'd listened to the interview.

Lol....really? Negative and unhelpful comments at a football game? That happens at every single fixture I've ever been to, be it Dale or otherwise. He'd be having a go at the supporters after literally every game if this was the thing that irked him.

He was pissed off that we didn't win and used his Mourinhoesque deflection tactics to once again shift the blame from him and his players. Now, this seems to be fair game in the modern era but not when the fans constantly bear the brunt. He knows fully well that 99% of the fans were fully supportive of the team last night (as do you and I).

He should realise, again, that his comments, much like those making them at the game, help no one.

Quite amazing that he thought it was a good idea to bring it up in an interview.

Dont know what all the fuss is about?
Hilly and Dumbo have already decided they want to go down..its too difficult in this big league, we are punching above our weight, we are after all Little Ol' Rochdale , we want our security blanket of League 2 ( The Rochdale League) . Walikng 4 miles to the match with your bag of crisps like a real fan. Looking forward to Forest Green and Cheltenham , Exeter, Barnet, Grimsby, and other such big games. Not Sunderland , or another big club in the doldrums.
That KH cant take the minutest of criticism is amazing...he lost it at Barnsley , with a bigger crowd on his back...heaven forbid he did move on to a bigger club, he would go ape at the abuse and expectations hurled at him. Shame he has no humility , just like most of the board these days and that cretin Tannoyboy.
The cup game glossed over a lot of problems .

I think Sunday must have sucked a lot of energy out of the players and to an extent management, had we played any normal league team on Saturday, I am confident that we would have won last night. But we didn't, we had pitchgate, full house, telly and a team of internationals to deal with and then a "normal" game 3 days later. I must admit I half expected we would get beaten last night no matter who played, horse droppings after the Lord Mayors carriage and all that. Thankfully MKD were as bad as expected and we were never really put under pressure and the same team from Sunday managed to navigate a draw. Will it relegate us? Probably not, our form over the last 29 games has put that on the agenda. Has it done us any good? Possibly, not losing is now important and not losing makes winning possible.

The truth is that we are a striker short of being decent and have been all season, a fully fit Davies would now have won another 5 or 6 games for us and we would be mid-table. Too many draws have been the problem, defensively we are far from being the worst, Hill expected us to score 70 goals, it's not happening and therein lies the problem
But, if we are to go down, better to go down with a team that has learned how to not lose than one that has got used to losing.

I suspect his annoyance was triggered by the drumming group singing clearly that we’re going down (I think it is followed by the sentiment that we don’t care as we’ll be coming back up).
If you recall, he similarly lost the plot with the home fans a few weeks ago after the Peterborough game as that same song was being sung, as was an entirely unrelated song about someone (else) getting sacked in the morning. He royally got the wrong end of the stick that day.

Thought we started off very brightly tonight, high energy, high pressing and created a few chances, hit the bar twice.

If everything was black and white, MK Dons came for a draw. Football isn't that simple and although there was time wasting and the usual, after the initial flurry they were as threatening as us.

We were desperate for a win, they were ok with a draw and a win would be a bonus. Totally different mentality.

MK Dons matched us, that's hardly surprising between two teams now 1 position apart.

There were a good few tennis ball bounces from the pitch and the odd bobble too, which didn't help either team.

As the second half wore on, our chances diminished and they got more to the fore.

Fair result in the end, no lack of effort from either team and basically nullified each other. That doesn't make either team poor, just equally matched.

On last point. If somebody had told me that a ginger player would feign injury tonight, there would have only have been one name on my lips. I was wrong.

T

I have to disagree with everything you said after your first paragraph, Lama. The only thing MK Dons matched us in is how many misplaced passes they made.

And I'll strongly disagree with your 'That doesn't make either team poor' comment. We were rubbish, they were terrible. I honestly can't remember a match where so many simple passes went wrong, from both sides. There was such a lack of quality in that match it was utterly depressing.

Lewington summed MKD up entirely - he was a player who has been a good solid (but horrible) defender over the last 10 years, and last night couldn't stick to the basics of football. He was awful.

Look at it this way....if MK Dons are so bad then they're nailed onto go down. One less for us to overhaul if they're in freefall.

We do have to win these six pointers though....Bury, Walsall, Northampton, Blackpool, MKD.

There was a season a couple of years ago when we hardly drew a game. Won or lost them. I remember Hilly saying at the time that we needed to convert the odd goal defeats into draws. He's partially got it right!

It is impossible to hear properly in the Sandy, it’s that loud. Don’t forget two directors told the Trust that they’d go around the ground to assess the different levels of volume at the next home game after their meeting.

What was the result of this?
