Burnley have apparently bid £25m for dawson and rodriguez. More money inbound.

Only worry with a double deal would be if West Brom played it cannily and were to lump the value onto Rodriguez to avoid paying a higher fee to us. Would presume sold alone Dawson would be worth anywhere around the 12 million mark but wouldn't be surprised if WBA tried attaching the majority of that figure onto Rodriguez.

Apparently West Brom want £20 million for Dawson! We'll see. I suppose he's at a great age for a defender just turned 28. A wealth of Premier League experience with almost 150 games played - the way the transfer market has gone someone might actually pay it!

Just for fun let's do the maths.

If he went for £20 million and we sold him for £800,000 that is a profit of £19.2 million. The rumoured sell on clause was 20% of all profit which equates to £3.84 million, which would be a nice earner.

I think west brom paid his wages when he stayed on loan which i think was part of the deal so i think this would be added on to our fee recieved thus reducing the profit made

We sold him for 600k.

I was told recently that the sell-on was negotiated down by WBA to 15% due to all the "furry bits" that came with the transfer e.g, the loan back, England call-up etc.

Heard tonight that Burnley have increased their offer to £28m. Fot the pair.

We could lose out in this deal massively.if WBA decide to sell both they could avoid paying us a 20% sell on fee by selling Dawson for "free" and then putting the £28million through Jay Rodriguez instead. That would save them paying us the 20% sell on fee.

how is anthony elding still in league one?

I suspect there will be some regulation that stops them doing what you suggest or else it would be common place.

Seem to remember Porto doing it for Moutinho/James Rogriguez deal a few years back. It's not common place because there's not many times where by one club wants to buy 2 of another clubs players.

Spoke to a West Brom friend yesterday and he seems pretty sure that a sale for the two will go ahead for around £25 million.

Unfortunately he also said that knowing the West Brom board the Dawson fee would be reduced to save money

Suggested in todays press that the Rodriguez fee is in the region of 20 million which would make Dawson a bit of a bargain in my opinion

Pretty sure they can’t get away with that. Also not sure Craig would go leaving us with nothing from the deal. He still loves dale and I expect he will end his career here.
