"One in 8" is a probability.
8/1 means eight teams can't be Stoke and one team can.
7/1 means seven teams can't be Stoke and one team can.

We have a "one in eight" chance of drawing Stoke U21 as there are eight teams and they are one of them.
But for odds, 7/1 means seven unsuccessful outcomes and one successful outcome, so seven teams who aren't Stoke and one who is.
Odds and probability/chance are different.

It's a real pity that we blew it at home against Lincoln City last season.......we were on for some decent loot. Could argue that the Cups were a distraction, and we needed to sort our league form out........which luckily we just about did.

I think I'm right in saying we automatically get the U21 side at home too.
There is decent prize money in this competition and if you're at home you'll get to take whatever breadcrumbs exists from beer and pie sales without the inconvenience of travel. |  |

Honestly I would rather we sacked the entire thing off.
I don't have any great desire to play any of the teams (we never beat you and do better out of you than we do out of Fleetwood - one of the very few perks of relegation was 12 months off having to contend with either) and feel profoundly patronised still by the U21 nonsense so don't give a toss about who the 4th team in the group is.
However I know perfectly well that no club is going to make that stand and refuse to participate. At least this draw guarantees it will be done as swiftly as possible.
Although watching us very comfortably deal with Saido Berahino was funny last season, I will admit. | | | |
