Typical. Closest ground to me and I'm stuck in Tuscany. Tried ordering a rag pudding here but getting about as far as Dale did over Chrsitmas last year.

Stuck as in working but I may get stuck on the steps getting on the plane home at this rate. Was consoling myself with a 0-0 at HT until I saw JT put us ahead. Still, Dale defending a lead ……………..

Staggering what insight you can get just from looking at a screen.

I don't remember being asked what class I was on my ST application, so RAFC don't care. I also wasn't asked at login on here, so it clearly isn't a stipulation for users of the forum either.

FWIW, I lived in a 2-up, 2-down mid-terrace on a cobbled street until I left home. My folks bought a washing machine for £350 in their later years and told me it cost more than that house, which didn't have a bathroom, just an outside khazi. I went to Uni and through hard work and application, I've done ok in life thanks. I'll always be the lad who grew up in Cassy though, regardless of anything life throws at me, including any attempt to pigeon-hole me like a Sun journalist.

On the subject of class, though, it's probably fair to say that's it's better to be of any class than to have none.

Definitely on my list of places to go Shun (but not during the horse race). I stay in Volterra when I'm down there with work - a lovely (Etruscan) hill-fort town. Had San Gimignano, Lucca and many other places recommended to me. One of these days I'll hire a car at the end of one of my work trips and get the g/f to fly over and join me and tour round and see all these places. The food, wine and scenery take a lot of beating.

San Gimignano is really nice. I love Italy, it has some beautiful places. Rome is amazing, Florence beautiful, Venice worth a visit but IMO overhyped and overcrowded and a bit smelly.

As for the post before this one, Dalei, dayum!

Without wishing to join the inverted snobbery route we had an outside bog as well when I was a kid. This was at Heybrook in the 1950's.
I suspect that many of that vintage will have a similar story to tell.
It was unbelievable luxury when we got to Kirkholt with an inside loo.

Ma n pa had a bathroom plumbed in. Trouble is they knicked half our bedroom in the process. Bunk beds were better than sleeping in a hole in the road though

The outside bog was only used for dad to smoke in when it rained then, after he "gave up smoking".

My grandparents used to tell stories about two seater outside toilets.
Suppose they were alright if you knew the person sat next to you......

The outside bog usually had a pad of newspaper cut into squares and hanging on a string.....you walked round with "the People" newsprinted onto your backside all week......or if you were well rich, you splashed out on Izal toilet paper, rough as a bear's a*rse but it got rid of your clinkers!

It pains me to have to explain this. There was no malice in my post either personal or general its just the general bollix common on here or so I thought. If you want a personal apology just ask... as for me in spite of humble origins - Ings Lane and water st were never desirable parts of town - I'm now officially a gentleman of private means I've even voted Tory? well you have to do in the circles I mix in now. I only come on here to mix with common people to keep myself grounded like Ranger does.
