Some of the posts on the opening page 1 of this thread are laughable.

Hilly owes it to us to explain a team selection? Do me a favour he his the manager and it's his job to select the best eleven to start and win a football match. He does not owe us supporters anything.

Time after time he does this pulling rabbits from hats and surprising us all.

4 forwards all up front and the biggest two both on opposite wings! Who would have thought this master stroke would be so effective. Bloody superb stuff.

Gillingham looked OK in parts first half but over 90 minutes Dale were far superior.

Bring on the Sunderland trip!

Although Hill has admitted he doesn't like playing this way he may have stumbled upon a master stroke with Andrew and Wilbraham wide and competing with the fullbacks in the air. They won almost every ball today and with Hendo/Gillam/Clough (in time) picking up the knockdowns we are going to be a real threat. Both Raff and Hart got forward today just as much as if we'd been playing 3 at the back with wingbacks so having an extra attacking player on the pitch instead of an extra defender worked a treat.

He used to play O Grady out wide to good effect, mind you he used to cut in and score as well

Read my reply last night around explaining selections.

It explains it, please once itā€™s read, let me know if itā€™s ā€œlaughableā€ and Iā€™ll explain it again. Wouldnā€™t want a positive point to be missed - the positive was included in his interview.

The comment of hill explaining his selections to us is laughable. There has never been and never will be a need for any manager to explain his selections to supporters.

If I mis read the post then I apologise.

As it happens we won 3-0 so let's enjoy our Sunday and look forward to a belting trip to Sunderland on Saturday.

Sunderland not Barnet!!! Wow

Please read what I posted at 21.11 last night around the explanations, it was also touched upon at 14.20 after the initial post yesterday. Itā€™s all there.

For clarification, again: We had a lot of players missing, more who youā€™d expect to be involved in recent memory, and we are usually in the dark as to why. To prevent it becoming an issue as it often is, to turn into a positive where the supporters appreciate the situation in which the manager picks a side, it required explaining. That happened and it added further weight to what Hill and the result achieved with so many players injured/not performing in training.

You can have your opinion that a manager doesnā€™t need to explain selections, but I feel it helps supporters understand whatā€™s happening at their club better. If you donā€™t want to know why certain players arenā€™t present, fine. I wouldnā€™t call that stance ā€œlaughableā€, itā€™s an individualā€™s prerogative. Also, as noted, itā€™s down to the club as a whole to try and get that info out there, itā€™s amazing how being aware of the problems faced brings people together.

Think of it as a snow covered pitch that needs clearing. We canā€™t turn up with our shovels if we donā€™t know it needs doing. But again, thatā€™s just a personal opinion.

Stop looking for a quarrel we have just won 3-0 and everybody including Dale23yrs is happy except you and Keith.

Iā€™m not looking for a quarrel, itā€™s a genuine curiosity, heā€™s trigger happy when we lose, but never anywhere to be seen after a win. Anyone would think he wants us to lose..

Wouldn't that depend on how much he wants 'Hill Out' and whether his mind is made up and nothing will change it

I can see your POV 442 I just don't entirely agree.

in my eyes Hill has to make a judgement call on what he wants to share and what is best under wraps. As the manager we should respect that.

I think I was pricked when some negativity was aired about the team selection even before the selected 11 were given a chance to go and perform. They won 3-0 - job done.

Just people quick to bash hill ATM when there really is no need.

Anyway we won - more of the same Saturday would be a treat.
