https://www.daletrust.co.uk/2019/01/meeting-at-the-club-3rd-jan/

Just to add that there was nothing that could not be brought up. It was an very open and honest meeting as I wrote, and I think I brought up most of the issues / concerns from here over the last few days. If I've not covered it, it was down to time constraints (meeting took close to 2 hrs) and should not be seen as being evidence of proof, so apologies to the Biggins Conspiracists.

Could I suggest he doesn’t do that? Only to protect himself and the messageboard from any potential action, should what he say be seen as defamatory.

We’ve all got one kind of beef or another at the present time. It may be best to suppress them on this forum for the time being. Let’s be honest here, not one of us who are regular posters wants bad for the football club. Nobody is doing anything with intentions other than those they think are for the long-term best. Above all, nobody on here is making anything up — it is coming from somewhere.

Three points tomorrow will see us 13th and provide a big psychological boost. Defeat? Well, that’s not worth thinking about. So I’m going to focus on that now. There's even time for incomings or outgoings.

If it's true, how can it be deemed defamatory?

The accusation has to be proven as false by the complainer, which requires a legal process that I'm sure nobody wants to go through. Look at Sheffield Wednesday 10 or so years ago.

Just a question- did the club as to see your note of the meeting before you published it and if they did - did you run it by them; did they make any changes?

Well I'll have keep having my tummy tickled then, which I think is an unfair thing to say to people, if they don't know what's allegedly going on, and somebody won't back it up after posting on a public forum.

Yes I sent them my notes as we usually do. Not for censorship reasons or anything sinister, it's more a case of me making sure I've got my interpretations correct, and just to verify that, we have never been asked or told to supply anything in advance, it has always been on our part that we have got things correct. There was one change. I'd put the price of the gift of the wine presentation box in my notes, and understandably with a present, they'd rather the price wasn't listed.

Just a final post script on this.

I can fully understand why anyone would question whats been put down. Some times trust (small T) has to be proved rather than assumed, and that can only happen with time. I've no reason to think I've been told a pack of lies, like I've consistently said, in the two meetings with DB since he became CEO, he has been incredibly honest with me about things at the club. If I was fed a pack of lies, and it was shown to be the case, that would make our next meeting rather awkward so it would be an incredibly short term view on behalf of the club to do that.

It was never going to be a warts and all airing of all public laundry, but there is nowhere near the amount of dirty laundry that people think that there is. The last two games have been a massive kick in the nuts for everyone, and we're all still a bit shellshocked following those two games.

Non one is claiming everything is going to be peachy creamy at the end and that we'll all live happily ever after. I've had my say this week why I think Hilly is still the man to change it, and I've said what changes I think Hilly has to do to get things back on track, because unquestionably things need to get back on track. Fully understand all those who have lost faith in him.

But all I'm asking for is the opportunity for people to give things a chance. If you don't trust DB right now, then fine. If you don't trust me or the Trust right now, then fine. But give us the opportunity to work on things. The Trust did a survey last year of supporters and it was clear from the results that many felt that the Trust were weakened by a Football Club that kept them at arm's length and paid them lip service only, and let's be fair, there have been times where we ourselves have felt like we've been banging heads against the wall. But there will never be a better time to make changes.

I've had very honest and frank conversations with DB about the way the fan base feels about things and what needs to change. I've not simply reiterated my views, but the views of the fanbase across the club and what needs to be done to make things better. Nothing has been off the table and I've made it clear what I think the club need to make things better in terms of connecting with the fanbase. DB is very receptive to what is being said and has genuine desire to change it. Any sort of divide or disconnect helps no one and it works both ways.

So come to the Forum a week on Monday and see what the new board has to say. I know the great concerns that people have over the changes especially with a good man like Chris Dunphy no longer at the helm, but come and see for yourself. The new Chairman might be London based, but he's got history with the club, his family has history with the club, he is a regular at matches. Tony Pockney has come on Board, and he's another with an employment background than can only benefit the Football Club and he's got a record of being a season ticket holder with his family for a number of years. Andrew Kelly we all know about and his long connection with the club both on the board and his work with the community, and David has been around the club for 3/4 years now and knows the club inside out. It isn't a group of people who have walked in from nowhere promising the world.

From a Trust perspective, we've already seen a difference. Published meetings held on 14th December with the club and again on 3rd January. The plan is to maintain this and continue forwards with this approach. Yes, there's going to be fallings out along the way - both sides are aware of that. We are not going to agree on everything thats inevitable.

But give us a few months, and then judge us. I'm not talking on the pitch because there's very little we can be done with that, but don't prejudge people or the club's relationship with the Trust before we all have a chance to work, show and prove to people, to supporters and to our members that we can do this. RAFCBLUE's post that got bumped from 12 months ago shows any feeling of disconnect is nothing new or something that has appeared over the past month or so. There's a lot to work on, some of which is longstanding, but we'll address it all.

And if we don't get it right, give it us with both barrels because if we don't, then the Club and the Trust will have let the supporters down. But we have the potential for a whole new club / supporters relationship and as someone heavily involved in that, all the signs are good so far. Rome wasn't built in a day as Matt and Luke said oh so poetically last week on Spinal Tap II, but it will take time to convince people, just give us that opportunity to do so.

The Trust as always are always willing to listen to members and supporters (email: info@daletrust.co.uk or come and see me on the Trust desk this Saturday before the Burton game), and if there's something we're not doing right or not addressing, come and tell us.

Great posts Col.

And within it we have a clear, official statement:

"The support for Keith Hill remained strong at the club, and this has remained consistent both before and after the recent changes within the Boardroom. David was keen to dispel suggestions about Keith Hill not attending training stating he was as hands on a manager as you could get in League Football. The manager has always seen the training ground as being at the heart of his work and nothing had changed with that respects. "

Perhaps those who have made it their ends, over several weeks, to persecute the manager will now reflect and give him time (20 games) and see how the end of the season pans out.

I can't think of any true Dale fan that would genuinely want us to go down. Certainly the 40+ years it took us to get to this level is a lifetime for most supporters.

The first aim is 50 points and safety and then see where we are.

Off the field has to get better to match a League 1 standard; but that's not where most folk have their weekly focus of interest.

George Bernard Shaw had it right: "He who can does; he who cannot, teaches." https://www.visittheusa.co.uk/

How do we effectively dispute what the CEO says ? There has to be an element of trust and acceptance of what he says.

He says 'things are fine'. Maybe that's because Hart has left, maybe that has nothing to do with it.

I have seen a few posts now about the sam hart situation.

And you don't have to surmise about his ability to "live with that" - i know first hand that nb can, since we regularly exchange our good wishes off-board

The post about tummy tickled wasnt directed at you roccy just a general comment, apologies if it offends.
I feel no need whatsoever to back anything up or dont wish to take any credit if/when things do eventually come to light, and if folk want to believe every word the CEO says then crack on, I know firmly who I believe.

There's plenty of posters on here know the full details too and I've had many pm's from various folk on here backing up generally what's already been alluded to during this thread in particular, again not my style to name names but for clarity that does not include DAlien who did previously mention we'd in the past messaged each other again nothing to do with this topic at all though.

I'll leave it there because I think the efforts and honesty of Col in particular deserve better than people (me included) to keep shouting his thankless and time consuming posts down, keep up the great work Col and the trust providing fans with the transparency it looks to find.
