Hill interview on 15:04 - Jan 6 by James1980

Get the impression some folk think the only acceptable interview would have been for Keith to say sorry I quit. Refer any other questions to Chris Beech.

Oh don't start that again, you seem to think the sun shines out of Hill's arse. You were also excited about his 'rallying call' pre match interview......then we got battered 4-0 (again). What do you think about it now?

Hill said months ago that disgruntled fans should call the chairman if they wanted him gone...

Anybody know how to do that?!

Don’t quote me on this but I reckon using a telephone is the best bet.

But I'd save your money; there's a fans forum on the 14th where you can meet him in person.

To what contact however? It’s all very well Keith saying to contact the chairman if we want him gone but there has been no direct link to contact details for the chairman!

To be truthful, I wouldn't resign if I were Hill with so long left on my deal.

I've never quit anything in my life and I'd be backing myself to do my damnedest to be successful in the remaining games given it was what I'd signed up to.

Whether I'd be right to take that course of action, of course, would be up to others to judge alongside any intervention to stop me doing that.

I do wish I had his money!

Poll: How many season tickets will we sell for next season

The biggest concern is (or should be) the very existence of the club. Relegation, even successive relegations, is not the end of the world. Spending money you haven't got may be. Hill has defied over a hundred years of history (I'm not defending him, I've never been able to abide his attitude). We remain the most unsuccessful professional football club of all time, never won a sausage! Not saying someone else might not do better, but throwing money at it could be calamitous.

There is a solution with regard to a change of manager that wouldn't cost the club a penny for now, its not a new solution its been used before. Remove Hill from first team duties, garden leave whatever and put BBM or Ellis in temporary charge. I'm not sure if that would be constructive dismissal I'm not an employment lawyer. Hill continues to be paid as per his contract and someone within the club gets an opportunity to take charge of selections and tactics with a view to a permanent appointment when/if Hill leaves. The issue of compensation for Hill will still have to be resolved at some stage but for now it would solve any cash flow problems that would result in paying Hill out.

I find it difficult to accept that Hill will get rewarded from the sale of outgoing players. it defies logic for him to be rewarded for his mistakes in recruitment, the Hogan money is a different issue as I see it, you could mount an argument that Hill deserves part of that however reward for weakening the team at this point in time plus any cost on replacements makes no sense to me.

Mistakes in recruitment? We got Cannon and McGahey on free transfer's and he's sold them for money. Yes the milk has turned sour recently but Hogans transfer has funded the ground being bought and most probably Hill's contract. You think Hogan would have come here without Hill being here?

I didn't say I was excited. I also criticized the use of the sacrifices comment. Disagree that post and pre match interviews are as awful as is being stated.

The term "cash flow" always sets alarm bells ringing for me. There is no foreseeable prospect of generating even half of the last few years' income over the next few years. "Kicking the can down the road", or, "Robbing Peter to pay Paul" would be more appropriate in those circumstances, and could spell disaster.

How do you know Scott Hogan's transfer fee was used to buy the ground and not just used towards wages/running costs?

I agree that kicking the can down the road would only be a temporary solution the problem would still have to be addressed however it would give us breathing space, it would also depend if those within the club would accept an interim role without any increase in salary. Completely different to paying out Hill and bringing in a new man at or greater than Hills salary. Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not what I am suggesting.

Ok - if not the Hogan money specifically (as the Brentford to Villa transfer happened after we bought the stadium back) - Hill's unprecedented success on and off the field must have helped greatly towards us being in a position to do any stadium deal.

I know that some of the transfer fees have been undisclosed but roughly how much income do you think Hill has made the club in transfer fees?

Perkins, le fondre, done (x2), wiseman, o grady, hogan, dawson, mcgahey

They’re the hill signings I can remember that would have commanded a decent sized fee. Fair bit of cash from that list of players

On bonuses from player sales should these be based on league position at the end of the season?

If you added together all the fees from all sales of players Hill has brought through the club, deduct any fees paid, then deduct Hills percentage of any profits made on those sales (no complaints about any percentage as he brought them through) deduct wages paid to said players by the club whilst they were here and then look at how much money he has brought through the club. Take off any monies paid for failed buys, failed loans where we have paid some or all of their wages and it then looks slightly different.....The point being that is it a myth about all the money brought in? And this is not having a pop at anyone just a genuine question...You could add monies raised through cup runs, promotions to swell the coffers as they were achieved under his tenure.....
