Forum thread 20:30 - Jan 14 with 24915 views | 442Dale | Few things from tonight: The board acknowledged the strength of feeling around Hill’s comments about supporters after games. They are also encouraging him to be more open with fans. They have confidence in the manager. Season ticket prices won’t be increased next year.

Forum thread on 20:36 - Jan 14 by dalenumber2 | Was just reading some comments on the Facebook page. The chairman didn't show, it was the 'expected Bottomley whitewash" Comments include "Keith Hill runs the club", " has all the directors by the balls" "the ones that weren't behind Hill like Dunphy got the boot". Be interesting to hear the views of some posters on here to strike a balance. [Post edited 14 Jan 2019 20:43]

Keith Hill doesn't run the football club, but after tonight, it's crystal clear that David Bottomley does. Whether that's a good thing or not a good thing remains, imo, to be seen, but i couldn't fault his attention to detail and awareness of many of the finer points that we discuss on here On the way out, i overheard one fan saying "they didn't answer one question". That's just not true. It is true that some issues were skirted over but some honest and direct answers were also given I tried to bring the new chairman into the proceedings but, as others have said, what was most telling was his lack of engagement. He's a figurehead, but a very different one to Chris Dunphy. Again, whether that's a good thing or not remains to be seen My overall impression? It wasn't just a PR exercise, there is genuine support for the club in the truest sense among the newly-constituted board, the female presence brings a welcome perspective and i feel marginally more positive than before

Isn't the Chairman a Merchant Banker, based in London. ? And who is DS ?

Forum thread on 20:41 - Jan 14 by dale4ever | The chairman was there, he didn’t inspire me with much confidence though. Was asked about his long term aim here and said he wasn’t sure he would still be here in 12 months time. He looked to Bottomly about everything he was asked. Something didn’t seem quite right with him. |
You've misinterpreted what the Chairman said. He was asked would he serve 12 years like Chris Dunphy and he said he didn't know what he would be doing in 12 months, let alone 12 years, just like most of us don't know exactly what we'll be doing in 12 months time.

Forum thread on 20:47 - Jan 14 by SuddenLad | For what it's worth, my understanding of the Sam Hart situation is that attempts were made to make the deal last until the end of the season, but Blackburn had previously been paying 80% of his wages, For the deal to continue, Blackburn wanted Dale to pay his whole salary, which the club declined to do. Deal over, Sam Hart returned. His salary was out of our league, quite literally..... |
How have you come to that conclusion, SL?

Forum thread on 20:56 - Jan 14 by SuddenLad | I'm not implying it was anything to do with the Forum. I was told 2 weeks ago, that that was the situation. For the loan to continue beyond the original period, the terms were laid out and Dale weren't in a position (or wouldn't agree) to pay the wages.... |
I thought he was on loan for the season? Are they allowed to change the terms half way through?

That’s a very good point, however it didn’t instill much confidence though that he didn’t seem committed for the long haul though to me. He works from London but insists he is keen on being at the club as much as he possibly can be. I’m skeptical he can be as involved as Dunphy was. Bottomly did skirt around on some questions but did answer others though, the season ticket prices staying the same is a big plus for me.

And that's what i was trying to elicit by the question. Not, that he'd be expected to serve as long as CD, but whether he felt committed to the role in the same way as CD did

Judd, you raise an important point. James Mason was our CEO and he was appointed in a blaze of publicity, Dale had made 'a coup' by gaining his services. Within a matter of weeks, he was 'sidelined' and we were advised that DB was now to be the CEO. Who interviewed him for the position of CEO and who were the other applicants for the post ?
