Few things from tonight:

The board acknowledged the strength of feeling around Hill’s comments about supporters after games. They are also encouraging him to be more open with fans.

They have confidence in the manager.

Season ticket prices won’t be increased next year.

So if the club are happy with the performance of Hill and they don't see a problem with comments he has made to and about the fans, why would he not be allowed to be at the forum as he has done in previous years? Surely if this forum was a place to clear the air, the best person to answer those questions would be Hill himself. If he doesn't want to face the fans, why can't he answer the questions in the format of an iFollow interview?

Last night's event was always publicised as a 'Meet The New Directors' type of function, so Hill was never scheduled to be there.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

It took someone to rightly point out that the public image of the club in the media is affected by these comments for some realisation that it isn’t just about fans not liking the frankly tedious comments that appear time and again.

I don’t want to hear about passions running high after games, it can be addressed by the board so the club’s image isn’t impacted. Actions speak louder than words, no matter how many words are used.

I'm not saying Chris Beech is unemotional, but he is a lot more level-headed and at least as articulate. He also knows what's going on with training, tactics etc. Can it be worse putting him in to bat and see how it goes. For me it's a win-win.

Or Steve Collis for that matter. Could ask him if he has any influence on goalkeeping selection?
There have always been plenty of motormouth managers but with one difference.
I used to be in Neil Warnock press conferences for example and he used to rant and rave immediately after games but I NEVER heard him slag off fans.
Can you imagine the uproar if the manager at Tesco was quoted as saying that his customers didn't know what they talking about and stood abusing them?
I appreciate all that Keith Hill has done for this club but I don't like being treated with contempt.

Whilst he shouldn't slag off any fans, isn't it the case Hill is picking on a certain group of fans and not all of those attending on a match day

Btw, what is the white stick figure on his lapel?

The badge is the Support for Prostate Cancer awareness badge. KH wears one almost always as do many TV commentators, pundits and football personalities up and down the country. Hence the event on Saturday...

I sit behind the away dug out. I believe that most of the people behind the home dug out are staff, so you would expect that there would be no comments made from that side, but on my side, there are probably 70-80 people in the block and there are probably 3-4 at most who shout out comments loud enough for Hill to hear. Unfortunately, although he can hear it, I think because he is facing the pitch, he can't identify who said it, so he appears to hold the entire block in disregard because of a minority of fans.

Personally, no matter how bad we have been, and no matter who the manager has been in the past, I don't see the point in getting on the manager's or player's backs. It doesn't encourage them, and someone who has played the game and managed the team for years isn't going to change their plans just because someone in the stands doesn't agree with the decision. I'm sure that everything is done for a reason, and playing Football Manager on a laptop doesn't mean we know more than Hill about running the club.

I know that there have been several times that Hill has lost it with the fans. The comments he made about a fan on IFollow which led to that fan not going again. The comments he made in front of a young family, etc, and although Hill should be professional enough to rise above those remarks, it needs to be a two way thing. We can't keep speaking to Hill like a piece of trash every time we lose and expect nothing in return. He's only human and is probably as hurt about our comments as we are about his.

No. He has made post match statements having a go at fans that are generalised as far as the fans at the game are concerned.

Would it be acceptable for Hill to use the sh1t sandwich method of criticising the hecklers?

I want and expect him to treat our supporters in a professional and respectable way, which does not involve in anyway having a go at them. Without supporters he wouldn't have a job, he should remember that!

would it be a bit more palatable if he said thank you for the support, giving up a saturday, some folk come from overseas etc etc much appreciated.

Booing etc isn't helpful especially when players are struggling with confidence, even it is really Hill they are berating the players will not always know that, but that is a minority.

Once again thank you to those who get behind the team.

Surely that covers the bases, maybe adding a bit about understanding fans can get frustrated and are passionate about their club whether it be a non league team or a Champions League match

Yes it would.

Regarding the booing, I agree, however it is understandable why it happens.

There is not a better set of supporters around than us Dale fans, and Hill and the Club should be thankful of us. We might be small in numbers, but we are loyal, and you James are extremely loyal.

Due to illness I was unable to attend and have only just waded my way through the thread. Did anyone ask about the inquiry into fans behaviour against Bradford and plans going forward ie Sunderland plus the promised removal of the debris that has accumulated in the corner of the Pearl St/Wilbutts that was promised. Oh and while I`m at at it the ongoing disgraceful birdshit on away seating areas ?

We're an extremely forgiving fan base. Most other teams would have had the whole stadium booing a long time ago. Barnsley fans turned on him quickly. For the crap we've played for the last 18 month I'd say he has it relatively easy here. Still, it's only a small minority that boo at games.

I don't boo because I don't think it particularly achieves anything and whether people want him in or out, he isn't going anywhere, so it definitely won't make a difference.

No, I don't recall any of those questions being asked. To be honest, it seemed to be over quicker than previous forums and I think that was because Hill wasn't there. People soon realised that the directors would only answer what they wanted to answer, and although the forum was busy, there were not as many people asking questions as I expected. It only lasted an hour.

Ironically, on leaving, I noticed that the Ratcliffe Arms was closed, and I was wondering why the club don't use it during the week as an extra income source. A question for next time perhaps.

Many pubs don't open during the week as people don't go out like they used to. For somewhere like the Ratcliffe Arms, which isn't really a 'local' pub, it simply wouldn't be worth opening.

There was a meeting there on Monday afternoon for Rochdale schools heads and governors. I guess there must have been the better part of 80 people there. I dont imagine there was a great deal of income for the club but I guess it helps to defray the costs
