Lowe favourite for Luton Job on 13:38 - Jan 18 by nordenblue | I agree in general with your post but can't for the life of me think why you'd let someone ruin the previous good work to get to where we are simply because he was good 2 years ago, Jose has won trophy after trophy everywhere hes been yet United weren't too slow to realise the drastic spiral in which he was currently taking the club towards. Its no knee jerk reaction we're talking about, there's been blatantly massive problems on the pitch and behind the scenes for well over 18 months with no real sign of it being addressed,sadly... |
Interesting points and it all depends on how you view things, which is what makes the world go round and such conversations interesting. Hearing an alternative view gives different perspectives which are always welcome. In my view, it depends whether you think KH is past his sell by date or not. I don't. Has he tarnished his reputation by getting involved in things he shouldn't have done. Sure. Has he made mistakes. Sure. In my view though, he hasn't ruined his legacy. He certainly isn't enhancing it currently, but his work isn't finished yet. Jose lost the dressing room. He had to go. New managers can have a positive effect (OGS) but also a negative effect. We are still in L1. We weren't getting the results we needed. KH has made changes to try to remedy the situation - players out and players in. I suspect there's more to come before the window closes. The Times published a table of all league teams (Prem->L2) based on goals scored. City obviously no. 1, Bury in 3rd and Dale in 32nd. So not epic, but certainly not shabby either. We have hopefully been strengthened in midfield and defence recently. We will hopefully have enough to steer us to safety and another retool in the summer. I suspect you know more than me about the behind the scenes stuff. Frankly, the only time that bothers me is when it affects the play on the pitch, unless the future of the club is likely to be threatened. It's all beyond the fans control anyway, as is Keith's future, except that by supporting the team, we can try to positively contribute to a win. That's what I'll be focussing on. A win today would be very, very welcome.

Keith Hill is a skilled and talented manager and is at his best when he has something to prove eg his first spell with us in L2 and L1 and his return after perceived failure elsewhere. To me, now, he has grown complacent and a fan of his own hype, as is reflected in anecdotal evidence about his relationship with players and training methods. Can he give himself a bloody good shake and get back to what originally inspired him? Only he knows that.

After three nibbles at the edges of a play-off position and the lure of another promotion, you would have thought his chance to become the ultimate Messiah would have been more alluring than complacency. And if his flirtation with relegation and the fate of Jose wasn't enough to give him a bgs what will? Only time will tell and as you say, only he knows that.

The forum concluded with fans telling the board to give KH a bloody good shake. I suspect any complacency he might've felt has already been shaken by the changes, and I've little doubt there's something of a power struggle taking place now between the playing and administrative side that didn't exist until very recently

But we all know that there was a statement made at the forum which acknowledged that the most important people at any football club are the fans. From there it was also acknowledged that supporters were concerned about the amount of and type of communication from the manager and the impact it has on the club, both amongst paying customers and in the media. It was something they were working towards improving. We are yet to hear from the manager ahead of today’s game.

As much as you are generally full of shit, I can't help but agree with you on this one. I can't see Lowe going to Luton. He's doing a good job. I'd expect bury to be challenging in League Two with budget and players they have at their disposal, but that doesn't always translate to points on the board so Lowe deserves credit for that.
