'Waiting Game' Who's going to sign first? 01:01 - May 16 with 12447 views_Windydale

Aaron Morley, Done or Rathbone and 4 others shrewdly rubbing their chins. Waiting to see what offers from other clubs tantalise and titillate.

Who's the first to renew? Maybe the opening gambit is to wait a month, for a more 'high profile' club to come knocking?

hope to see Morley and Rathbone sign and get onboard. However, I hope we can get a final settled squad here before the training holiday to Bogner Regis.

I would argue that there is a significant difference between playing as one of two central defenders or one one three. It also depends how a team players the three. Most will have a right/central and left sided player and divide the pitch into thirds. Some play with two markers and one free one/sweeper. With three centre backs you often find them ending up defending in wider areas of the pitch, which some defenders find uncomfortable.

This is one reason you sometimes see full backs playing as either the right or left centre back in a three, especially if they are up against more mobile forwards. In a three the wider centre backs tend to get involved in general play more and therefore it is beneficial if they are more comfortable on the ball.

I do agree with your comments about wing backs and full backs. Not every full back can be a good wing back and vice versa.

Understand what you're saying about the wider two of three CBs, but my point was to highlight the difference between playing in that role and having to adapt to the wingback role if you're a more defensive-minded type of fullback

I'm not a fan of using the term "philosophy" when referring to football; in fact, i've got a philosophical aversion to it, and any use of it to try and distinguish between how teams line up is pretty abject

Just to clarify my use of the word 'philosophy' was taken from the academy website.

I know, it's the use of it by football people that's annoying, not by you

Tbf if I had a month off after a physical season I’d be more focussed on beaches and cocktails rather than contracts. Plenty of time left yet. We’re still technically in ‘last season’.

Agreed. I'd also be amazed if BBM didn't have a very strong idea (with the exception perhaps of one or two) on who was going to sign when they return.

Yes the players are on a well earned break.

I agree BBM will probably have a good idea who will sign when they start to return.

June 30th though ( when contracts expire ) seems a long way off.
