Absolutely! I agree with everything you say, but it’s nice to think about occasionally when we see other clubs buying all the best lower league talent.

Peterborough do have a rich backer in DM, but again he’s got nothing compared the owners of some of the Championship sides, look at the relegation rate of league 1 teams from the Championship. That’s why if your not a big side coming down to league 1 you have little chance of success up there.

I honestly believe they’ll be a new division created in the next 10-20 years to fill the void gap between the Premier league,Championship and League 1. A Championship 2 if you will, you look at the finance difference between the bottom 8 of the Championship and the rest its scary. Scotland will come down and join us and make it British league. The big wigs would love it because you’d be have a Belfast and maybe Dublin franchise with the Scottish teams and Celtic and rangers eventually making their way to the Premiership. Sky and BT will be cashing it to the bank,.

This is the One, I've waited for

Peter O'Rourke now linking Callum Camps to Peterborough.

“Rochdale Ace” !! Got to put a few extra grand on his worth.

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

Hoban would be interesting.

Hendo can’t go on forever but a decent fee of £300k with a replacement in mind or else Salford can do one!!!

Hoban’s record in England is woeful.

Also, as already stated on this thread, Henderson’s value to our squad transcends financial value.

He is our talisman for sure.

Also he has the chance of legend status if he can score 20 goals this coming season.

The trouble with these billionaire backers is that they tend in the main to get what they want....money no object jobby.

Or they sulk?

We hold all the cards.

Under RAFC contract if they want him that bad then show us the colour of money! In serious wads.

He’s 34 going on 24. Super fit, quick footballers brain and never injured. He’s a great advert for his Herbalife stuff. He could play another 5 years at league level if he wanted. We have nobody in the club who could even try and replace him and we won’t pay for someone who isn’t a gamble. This has all the hallmarks of the CoG nonsense, but at least this time the transfer window closes before the season starts. Any fee has to cover the cost of relegation, otherwise it’s a terrible, terrible deal. The ‘one year left can leave on a free approach so cash in’ just doesn’t work here because the cost of relegation is so great. Is it around £350k+ before taking crowd sizes into account? I think we’ll struggle this season with Henderson, so goodness knows what we’ll do without and almost certainly no replacement.

I would be astounded if Hendo departs for any club at League 1 level or below in the next 10 months. A 34 year old professional footballer wants to play at the highest level he is capable of unless he gets a financial offer he can’t refuse, dropping to League 2 would not appeal surely. He does not need the money courtesy of his successful business interests,he knows he is a legend at this club and is within touching distance of Reg Jenkins all time goalscorer record. I would only be concerned if a Championship club came in and turned his head to test himself at a higher level.

Unfortunately I think that this story still has legs.
Another challenge for the player. Nearer to his home so less travelling. Signing the Nevilles up for Herbalife.
Up to the board now to show some steadfastness this week if Chris Casper comes knocking on the door again with an improved offer.
If Hendo has to go then nothing less than £1million. And up front, not in instalments. And with a massive add-on if they get promoted.

If the Hendo rumour has legs (which hey would be not far short of catastrophic so close to seasons start) I hope the Hoban one was a 'pulling-yer-leg' addition.

With respect, 59 goals from 95 games at Dundalk sounds class - 7 in 75 in efl L1 & L2 DOES NOT!

I fear that without Hendo, we would be consigned to many a long year in L2 and it would be some feat to assemble a side to get us promoted, which makes me appreciate what Hilly did all the more.

Up the Dale - NOT for sale!
Poll: Is it coming home?

I'm not sure why everyone's making a point about locality, its literally about 5/10 mins travel time difference, its hardly a deal clincher for me, the big thing would be the wage on offer, at his time of career one big last couple of seasons would definitely turn his head.

I think that's kind of the point; in the past the fact he's settled up north has been something of a deterrent for a move, but in this case the location is barely any different and they could probably offer him a boatload more money!

The decision to stay or go will be Hendersons an extra 3/4 grand a week depending what he's on at Dale will be hard to turn down and the club wont stand in his way. At his age I wouldn't expect the fee will be more than 150 thousand if that. I think we need to prepare for life without him I hope Im wrong.

If the fee is anywhere near that I'd laugh down the phone at them, he's consistently proved his value in a higher division, regardless of his age he'll have a few more decent seasons in him yet, anything under 500k and we've been absolutely mugged....again.

We are not in a Le Fondre situation where we had to sell to pay HMRC.

On the back of Adshead and Dawson last month we hold the cards.

Can’t see Hendo going but if he does then it has to be for big money and a promotion clause / Windfall.

An enquiry was made about Henderson. It has been rejected.

A bid was made for Camps. It has been rejected.

Good, let's hope we maintain that stance.

I'm honestly not in the habbit of sharing (and this info has not come from the club BTW) but I felt I needed to post this again and again to stop speculation getting too wild. It's also not to say that the clubs concerned won't come back with improved bids either.

There should hopefully be incoming news in the coming weeks.

Would imagine P'Boro will return with another bid but Salford will have a whole list of targets to make their way through, I'd imagine.

Any idea of what positions we're targeting?

I think the speculation comes from years and years of the club seeming happy to sell our best players regardless of how much it negatively impacts on the team, to the point where it's hard to think that the club would stop at nothing to keep a player at the Dale. It seems to me the most likely scenario here is that Hendo will be sold for a sum of money the club think makes good sense (given his age) but which the fans will be extremely unhappy about. It doesn't seem like we NEED to sell Hendo, unlike at other times in recent memory, but that certainly doesn't mean we WON'T. I would love to be proven wrong of course.
