Great win for Lancs at Headingley tonight. Didn’t think 170 runs would be enough but bowlers did well.

Looked dead and buried after 7 overs of the Lancs innings but that is a great win. Parkinson with more timely wickets.

I see that we play 14 games even though there are 8 other teams. Why do we play 2 teams only once and how do they chose those teams?

Probably determined by Sky TV...everything else is.

Faulkner`s last over v Notts was perfect. They needed 12 runs and he takes two wickets to stop the momentum and give Lancs another deserved win. Parkinson and Livingstone were again awesome with the ball and a special mention again to Vilas who has been superb in both white and red ball formats.

Rather doubtful, as Sky are very unlikely to want less cricket to air.

It’s simply down to how much cricket counties can fit in.They settled on 14 about 3 years ago after complaints that players were playing too much cricket.

I meant sky would probably have a big say in who the extra games were against. Even TV moguls cannot extend the week.

Do you know how they pick the 2 games each team will miss? Obviously some teams will miss 2 games against a strong team and some against weak teams

Always play your local derby/big game twice so we always play Yorkshire home and away. Surrey always do the same with Middlesex etc. The other games are rotated across the seasons to ensure an even spread.

Sensational in that he single-handedly outscored the entire Glamorgan team.

What a season he has had in all formats. Captain, keeper and run scorer, what a great contribution.

Hammed not playing in this game. Not sure why, there are some whispers that he is being released at the end of the season, which would be a real shame.

Talking about Lancashire players and I’ve just got Jimmy Anderson’s new book from the library.

Excellent autobiography/inside look at the game.

He scored a ton for the seconds the other day, too. Looks like a case of unfulfilled potential.

It’s a great book and here’s hoping he gets through the Lancs second XI game and makes the fourth Ashes test. The prospect of he and Archer running in at either end is mouthwatering.

And he is captain for the second eleven game tomorrow. I don't understand playing both Bohannan and Lamb, especially with Bohannan batting at three and getting not many and not bowling, at least Lamb contributed with both bat and ball.

Yeah, it's strange, especially when you think Hameed was playing in a test match for England just three years ago.

I don't know what Chapple sees in Bohannon. As you say, he doesn't offer anything to the attack and has no sense of permanence at the crease.

I think Bohannon and Lamb are vying to replace Clark as the fourth seamer who can bat at 7/8 to balance the side and lengthen the batting line up. Onions/Anderson/Gleeson are all genuine number 11s and Mahmood is not that much better, although he has played some valuable knocks recently and is improving. Bailey is a decent lower order batter, but probably no more than a 9. Some would argue that if you play your 7 best batters and 4 best bowlers it doesn't really matter if the bowlers don't contribute many runs.

Lamb had a serious injury which has prevented him from playing for much of the season. Time will tell what will happen next year and with the balance of the side. Obviously what will be an expanded first division will be a much better standard than the second division.

An innings victory now wrapped up. Well clear at the top of the table and undefeated.

This without Onions, Anderson and Parkinson too.

I've just seen the confirmation of Hammed leaving.

Supposedly his representatives are difficult to work with and he is over reliant on his Dad and is not very coachable so the word is on Twitter Land!

It is a shame to see talent unfulfilled but ultimately he has not contributed much over the past two seasons and he doesn't really offer anything in white ball cricket.

I'm pleased with the Wood signing. A left armer and a decent lower order batsman. He can contribute straight away, especially in white ball cricket and then look to be a mainstay in red ball cricket in a couple of years as Onions, Anderson and Gleeson are not the youngest.

Rumour has it he might be on his way to Somerset, who have Trescothick retiring

I've got a nagging suspicion either they or another county will end up with Hameed taking his career in hand (apparently his father is seen as not a good influence) and maybe a move away is what he needs

Great victory against second place Worcestershire today, which means a guaranteed home quarter final, although possibly with nowhere to play it!

Good to see Croft contribute as well as the usual suspects. Faulkner did take a bit of tap at the end, but the game was won by then.
