Without being presumptive, the finals day is being held at Edgbaston. I’ve already looked into getting a ticket. Should Lancashire make the semis, it’s bound to be a great day.

Mahmood and Gleeson were rested. I suppose with a guaranteed home semi against either the third or fourth team from the southern group it made sense. Elevating Bohannon and Jennings above Maxwell and Vilas was odd. I'd still prefer Jones to play above Jennings as he is a better fielder and wouldn't always bat coming in at six and it would get the better batters more time in the middle. |  | | |

1) What matches would be shown? I would assume the advocates for would be looking at all England matches, would these include overseas tours and ICC tournaments where the rights are sold collectively, rather than for matches involving individual teams?
2) What terestrial channel would commit to the showing the matches? During the 2005 Ashes we had the Hollioakes scheduling issue and coverage was also interrupted for racing. What happens when play continues till 7 due to rain delays or a day nighter over runs? For all the complaints about them, the production values for Sky cricket are top notch. Would a terestrial channel be able to afford such a level of coverage. Bare in mind that the host broadcaster has to pay for the technology behind DRS.
3) What happens to the scraps? Sky show alot of cricket, from England internationals (men and women), T20 Blast (men and women), 50 over domestic cricket, the odd championship game at the business end of the seaon and a number of international series ot featuring England. The deal between the ECB and Sky includes the full package of coverage. Without the 'crown jewels' will the coverage of the 'lesser' game still exist to the same level, or at all? TV coverage of women's cricket could cease to exist.
4) What gets cut due to the financial shortfall? Sky have and do put a lot of money into the game which has seen the expansion of central contracts for both men and women. Development tours and placements for young players to help develop their games. There has also been a significant improvements in national facilities etc. Many counties have also invested in major ground redevelopments in recent times. Terestrial channels can/will not pay as much as Sky does for coverage so with less money coming in what gets cut? Probably grass roots funding for initiatives such as all stars cricket, chance to shine, local ECB development coachs etc. Overseas placements for young players or more likely hits to women's central/development contracts.
5) How many people would watch it? How many people actually watch every ball of a test match? Even people with access to Sky channels probably dip in and then catch up with the highlights. It is impractical for many people who are at work, or have other things to do to watch full games. There are so many other outlets when you can get updates and/or see highlights. I would love some answers. It is too simplistic to just say 'let's take cricket from behind a paywall' without addressing the fundamental issues and coming up with a plan that would work. A working solution would be good, but I have yet to hear a working solution. What would you suggest?

The Test schedule and World Cup taking place in the same year is primarily dictated to by the ICC, who I don't think are able to come up with years of more than 365/366 days.
The Old Trafford Test taking place at the same time as Lancashire reaching the next round of the Vitality Blast AND being drawn at home is just an unfortunate quirk of the scheduling.
Remember the Vitality Blast has been nudged to later in the season because of the World Cup. Ordinarily, it would have been all over by now.
There simply aren't enough days in the calendar to fit everything in to everyone's satisfaction.
Isitme's terrestrial TV post was perfectly explained and elocuted; it's a shame you've been so dismissive of it without adding anything constructive.
