Well at least our expectations have been lowered, the plaudits from beating a substandard Southend team, were over the top

SIX

Chastening, to say the least. Still 25 minutes to go...

lost possession again which led to a run into the box & a foul for the penalty

Almost comedic now at the back.

How in god’s name are we 4-0 down with 71% possession?

10% of the possession has been picking the ball out of the net and taking it to the centre spot for the kick off

Possession is one of the most meaningless stats out there. You could have 80%+ possession and still lose 8-0. The great thing about slow possession teams who don’t have amazing ball players is you just stand back, let them pass the ball about to nowhere and pick off their mistakes.

As painful as it is, it provides BBM with a number of learning opportunities. I fully predict a victory versus Lincoln.

An option up front would be a decent start to stop Hendo pegging around everywhere apart from where he needs to be playing.

Together with a crazy request to totally overplay every possible ball at the back

Plan F....take off Hendo and bring on Calvin. Good work by BBM rest him for Lincoln.

Four players on Yellows stay on.

Sadly the stats make for an interesting read; @ 75 mins.

Our 8 shots have all been off target.

9 of Peterboroughs 13 have been on target and....

Lincoln also struggling so a good time to play them as their confidence will be low

We flatter to deceive. The forwards are incapable of taking the weight off the defenders, A passing team needs forwards that actually move into spaces, unfortunately out forwards are too often statuesque.

They play direct in-yur-face football right? Ideal on a good pitch to pass around, or, sadly more likely, it forces mistakes from a team low on confidence trying to play a way they cannot when pushed.

I’m not going to go over the top about this result or performance the same way I didn’t join in with the media hypefest over the Southend result and performance.

Our true level lies somewhere in between the two.

Which is why it would have been better to bring on Matty Done who buzzes around rather than Calvin, for Mr Hendo?

Or were we thinking of Calvin's defensive attributes at 6-0 down?

3-0 at half time which flatters Peterborough. However 2 areas of concern to address if we want to do well in this league ( both already alluded to in this thread)

1. We need to know when to play the possession game, and when to thump the ball out
2. For all the possession and some very good crosses and opportunities, we are missing another striker. Hendo can't be expected to score every game and needs someone to support him either with goals or with knock downs. Will Wilbraham be the answer? I hope so

The second point emphasises what the better teams have, with strikers who need 1 or 2 chances a game and know where the net is

Looking like a bad day at the office today but not enough to get too down about at this stage of the season. Against the teams in the bottom half we will be OK but not against those pushing for the play-offs.

Finished 6-0. Not much more to add to my half time comments above other than the defending got worse and the attacking less

Not time to panic & hopefully we will have a point to prove against Lincoln on Tuesday. First mini-crisis for BBM

anybody know where we are with Wilbraham coming back?

Except we aren’t a slow possession team, and we do have good ball players (2 of our back 5 are in the top 6 for most successful passes in the league). Don’t be so dramatic. It’s a terrible result but Posh are a quality side and it’s the first time all season we’ve been outplayed.

They did what no one’s really done to us all season and pressed the hell out of us. Our Plan A is good, our fault today was not having a Plan B.

Fitzo’s spot on, there’s no need to be dramatic about this result just as there wasn’t about the previous result, as in reality we’re a mid-table side, and after the past two seasons that’s pretty great!
