Is McLaughlin injured again?

Obvious thing to say I know but their first goal as a result of a real Sanchez howler was a huge turning point. I cant help feeling if we'd had stayed at 0 0 till half time a point wouldn't have beyond us. These things happen and, as said on other posts, Tues will give us a good idea on the kind on boss BBM is following today's humbling. Lincoln at home, in view of their current form, is the perfect game to get the show back on the road.

We also can`t stick our heads in the sand.

No, hence the plan B thing. But 9 points so far is a decent return.

Really interesting analysis by RAFCBLUE regarding the need to score more goals this season, and it’s probably why League One’s seeing so many high-scoring games this season.

The football we’re playing at present is a step up on anything we’ve seen in the past three seasons, Spurs game aside. Yes, that isn’t everything but results are better too, and I defy anyone to think the start we’ve made isn’t good enough.

Don`t agree about the points in my opinion 9 is a bad return even though we have played some good teams , yes we are playing good football but that alone is not enough. Agree about plan B

How many points do you think we should have?

But it would mean we end up with 55 points at least should we carry on that form. That’s good enough to stay up and that’s the first aim.

You don’t say.

I’m sure firgrove is more than capable of coming up with a sensible answer in the morning, one that explains which number of points between 10 and 21 he thinks is acceptable and realistic.

TBH my expectations from the first matches were 7 points

1 win 4 draws

Tranmere has been the only match so far I thought we’d win

Blackpool, Doncaster, Shrews, Sunderland, Posh results as I expected

Southend never been Dale’s happiest hunting ground so a draw was my prediction

The start of October is key - I’d hope for 7 points from the games v AFC, Accy & Bolton

More than 9 we should have had points from Sunderland and maybe picked the odd point up somewhere else the football we have been playing is great but that alone is not enough

Anyway, I see even Citeh managed to balls up and concede a goal from fannying around with the ball at the back. As previously stated, we have to learn when to get rid. Although, simply a boot upfield invites immediate pressure back on us. We just aren’t good enough against teams who press hard.

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

Indeed, they've lost 6 out of their last 7 in all 1st team competitive matches!

If my memory serves me right, Lincoln had gone on a similar run to this years ago and then played us at their place. The result, under Parkin`s reign, was totally out of the blue and not even fannying about at the back could be used as an excuse.
I don`t believe there is a right time to play anyone. Look at Norwich City, they named 2 goalkeepers among their subs and were missing 10 (I think) first teamers, yet they still beat a Manchester City side who continually fannied about at the back.

It`s a fanny old game!

Sorry, I`ll get my coat.

I agree we should have had at least a point v Sunderland, but we were fortunate to get a point v Blackpool when you consider they hit the post in the dying minutes.

Excellent interview. Admire his willingness to come out and admit where we could have done better with our tactics and taking responsibility.

Agree. He's trying to do things the right way. He's less than a year in control of the first team and managerial role. No doubt learning on the job too. He isn't repeating mistakes from the past. I'm looking forward to the next game even after that result. Was at OT yesterday and plenty of football being played in front if their own goal too. Utd are not a team brimming with confidence at the moment.

Interesting RooleyMoor; think I was probably there - you're not on about the 7-1 or 7-2 - was Lambert still playing? If it was it became a tad of a joke that day/night but could easily have been 2-2 at half-time - if I have the right match.

You're dead right with there never being a 'right time'. Lincoln will be desperate to break their bad run, especially since their Keith Hills have departed. We too will want to bounce back but sure everyone will be aware of their physicality and lumping it up there.

One thing for sure, all the team will be aware of any fannying about at the back. An interview with a Donny player after their recent match with us confirmed similar to what's being mooted. They knew how Rochdale played and knew that if they kept pressing in the last third they could nick it.

7-1.

Lambert had been sold to Bristol Rovers a few weeks earlier.

It was Glenn Murray's debut on loan before he signed permanently in the following January.

Thanks TVOS; didn't realise that was Murray's debut.

Feel sure Lambert scored there another time from a very long distance free-kick near the touchline that appeared more of a 'put-it-in-there' (but might not have been considering his track-record) but eluded everyone and bounced up into the corner of the net; a tad like that goal from Morley??

As per my comment on the coaches thread, I took my g/fs dad to save him having to drive. There was a good atmosphere and I enjoyed my day out. I know it is fashionable for lower league fans to hate local rivals and PL sides, but I'm ok making my own mind up and following it. Haven't been to OT for 20 years. Got a ST @ Dale. Still enjoyed my day out. Utd got some decent players, but are a long way from ripping up trees this campaign so far. And the toilet wasn't that big.
