Seems some people are in meltdown over declaring at 499. Apparently we have lost the psychological advantage by not going for 1 more run!!! |

We only had one wicket left and that was Stuart Broad. I doubt we would've got much beyond 500 anyway. Added to that, the weather forecast for the final two days in Port Elizabeth is rubbish. Added to that, we've managed to take two wickets in the final session already.
Joe Root does have his foibles, but I don't think he's made a poor choice here. Only obessive-compulsives will be irked about the 499 declaration. |  |

Excellent two days of cricket for England. So pleased for Stokes and especially Pope. Hopefully that is the first of many tons, such as pleasing player to watch. Bess getting two wickets will also help his confidence. |  | | |

Great win but it’s one of the poorer SA sides of recent years. Although difficult to see us catching India and Australia for the test World Cup final, at least it means we should go for a win in the final test rather than just a draw to win the series.
If we can get both Wood and Archer fit at the same time we are starting to look like a bowling attack with decent pace. Also looks like we have found some young batters too although a shame Burns got a stupid injury |  | | |

He did you are correct but it was 1992 before Logie (94 & 95 )
28 years ago time flys by.
Edit - apologies just checked and you are correct.
I didnt realise Gus Logie has had 4 seasons as Nordens pro either side of Cronje.

It was Logie's first spell that I was thinking of because I was writing on cricket for the Ob at the time.
Norden tried to replace him with test players like Cronje and Danny Morrison but they never had the same success.
There were some class West Indians playing in the CLL in those days. I used to love watching Larry Gomes at Oldham and Carl Hooper at Werneth as well as Logie. | | | |
