Which gaps need filling in the squad, players that would do a good job filling those gaps, that we could realistically afford.

I think the current financial climate will also see us streamline our squad as much as possible. Wouldn't be surprised to see only 16/17 established professionals with more of an emphasis than ever on the youth- players like Joe Dunne could well see themselves playing a lot more games than we'd have anticipated. Also expect Keohane and Matt Done to go full John O'Shea mode and play in every position between them next season.

I don’t know how anyone could be happy with only 2 forwards coming in.

We’ve just released 4 forwards (albeit 2 of them barely played) and had 2 more go back after their loans ended. We’re 6 forwards down on this time last month. We literally have no senior forwards. The absolute minimum we need to bring in is 3.

I'm convinced we'll re-sign Wilbraham at some point. Then suspect we'll sign two 'proven' forwards and a loanee if we can arrange one which works in the club's favour. Reckon the club will be hoping for Tavares/ Bah to fill in 25 games between them next season (whether they will be ready or not is another thing.)

I wouldn't be surprised if we deliberately spend cautiously in the summer and the reassess in January depending on finances and league position. One thing in our favour is that the transfer window should be shutting after the start of the league season, which will at least give us a few games as an indicator of whether players are ready to step up or not.

I sincerely hope some of the names suggested up to now have been done so with tongue firmly lodged in cheek.

I fear anybody even hoping for some of the more realistic names to sign might be disappointed.

I fully expect the academy to be more heavily utilised than ever before in the coming season.

Indeed.

Probably better off scouting Oulder Hill's leavers list.

Are there any players from the academy that you think might be good enough to feature next season?

Whether or not they're good enough may be irrelevant.
They'll be utilised anyway, as they were in the period before last Christmas.

I don’t think anyone’s in any doubt of that. It’ll be a season unlike no other where we have a small squad with plenty of youth appearances. I think everyone’s already accepted that. However, this is a ‘wish’ list after all!

Andy Williams? No, not the singer...

Released by Northampton. Previously had a decent scoring record for Swindon and Doncaster. 34 y/o, but might be the Hendi/Alby type who looks after his fitness.

Could provide much needed experience up front???

Anybody know what is going on with Sam Hart? Don't know if he's still under contract at Blackburn but if we are somehow able to get him back again, I'd be happy.

As said by many i can honestly see us being a mix of sub a grand a week signings and youth team players with the existing squad, with BBM having the sole objective of avoiding relegation whilst bringing in youngsters and half decent football.

I think we can expect a frugal survive season until we know what’s going on moving forward.

Does sound like it may be a 'development' year more so than others. No real big transfers just what we need. Utilise the youth team up until the mid season transfer window. With the youth team players we have some that are now 2nd years as well as some that are now 1st years that have appeared in first team squads which is promising.

The only thing that may change this is if the squad size limits come in that could force wages lower again. The transfer market is going to be very interesting that's for sure.

I agree you'd think when a starting point is given again a couple of the released players will get contract offers. This is going to be bargain basement hunting, they'll be enough players around though

It’s an interesting one. On the one hand we’ll undoubtedly have a much smaller squad, along with most of the Football League. Yet on the other hand there will be a multitude of very talented players looking for clubs, most probably below their station, and knowing they’ll have to take a reduced wage or be unemployed.

It’ll certainly be a curious season.

The fact that we’re relatively solvent/ stable may be a greater attraction given current financial circumstances.

If we go into the season relying on the likes of Tavares then I wouldn't be describing it as a curious season!

I get we need to streamline and other clubs will as well but having just lost our top goalscorer for practically every season in the past decade and our second top goalscorer and creator, both of whom were our captain and vice captain, there's streamlining and there's an acceptance of relegation.

"Managed relegation" was a term muted when questions were asked at a Fans Forum re Championship and could we compete. If we were to get to the Championship, we couldn't compete financially and we wouldn't put the club at risk by trying to, therefore a "managed relegation".

But you already knew that.

If we keep the club afloat this season I think we may survive purely on not being hit by a whopping points reduction.
