Match Thread: Rochdale vs Ipswich on 17:18 - Apr 5 with 1705 views | Shun | Bit of a nothing match with neither side looking like scoring really. We looked fairly solid defensively which was pleasing. Done was probably our best player, he absolutely needs to play in a front two, though I suppose that relies on McLaughlin being fit so Keohane can cover at LWB.
Match Thread: Rochdale vs Ipswich on 17:19 - Apr 5 with 1703 views | James1980 | Can anybody see, any, positives from today's fixtures and the game between us and Ipswich? We still aren't cut adrift. There were a few positive performances. Hopefully the lack of end product from long throws will mean a big adaptation or dropping that tactic. At least substitutes weren't brought on with little time to make an impact.

If we can’t find someone to cover at LWB then we may as well expect more of the same. Baah is lost centrally, which was clear at Portsmouth. Dooley could play RWB if necessary and Keohane on the left, because we are wasting an opportunity to maximise Done’s form. Yet another ‘bleeding obvious’ tactical choice being allowed to meander as games pass by.

Positives: -We’ve moved a point closer to most of our rivals -A game closer to Humphrys and (I dream) Lund returning -We didn’t get any more injuries -Might have a Chinese tonight

Swindon up next, a real 6-pointer if ever there was one As things stand, our fate is still - just - in our hands, in that if we were to win our games in hand plus beat Wimbledon we'd have four teams below us in the table. A defender gets his head to the ball every time, from a Shaughnessy throw in.

Your dream may be closer than you think. BBM said today Lund is just days away from fitness ( and Ryan apparently). Never mentioned Humphries though

It's been said that Lynch doesn't provide enough competition for Bazunu I beg to differ

Match Thread: Rochdale vs Ipswich on 17:29 - Apr 5 with 1531 views | BillyRudd | Bottom of the league, only 8 games and a few minutes of the season left, draws won,t save us and a mediocre opposition. So why is Lynch strolling around to take a free kick, Shaughnessy strolling up to take his pointless throw ins, fannying about on the wings without getting a cross in. Am sick of it. Murphy should be screaming at them. They can count themselves lucky that they are,nt playing in front of us because the crowd would let them know in no uncertain terms. That game felt like running through treacle. Every time I see keohane with space in front of him, get to the half way line only to turn and pass it back, I can,t help thinking of Wiseman marauding down the wing. I,m longing for football of even 5 years ago nowadays.

I'd give us about 25% chance because we just can't get a home win that would give us a boost. Swindon next home game then Accrington who are in a slump. 6 wins away isn't that shabby but 1 win in 19? at home ?
Match Thread: Rochdale vs Ipswich on 17:32 - Apr 5 with 1491 views | rich_dale | Shaughnessy has played every game since he arrived - time for a rest and to bring back Morley I reckon. At least he has the quality to affect our attacking play. It's frustrating having Lund and Humphrys injured, plus McLaughlin again but we need to find a way to score goals until they are and we didn't look like doing that today at all.

He won't be able to provide enough competition if the agreement with Citeh is that Bazunu has to play, always, irrespective of how many fumbles, hospital passes and aimless flaps he commits. I don't like singling youngsters out, but the stakes are pretty high for us right now, which they are not for 'our' loanees. I wonder how the 'resting' has been received down at t'Etihad?

Don’t think either are good enough, but we certainly messed around less today thus reducing the chances of what happened at Portsmouth.

We had a similar problem with Roberts. He lost confidence and his defending became a liability. A spell out of the firing line seems to have brought him back into why he was brought here I expect BBM will have been in contact with Citeh about Bazunu. It's just possible he might've indicated he wasn't in the right frame of mind right now

Match Thread: Rochdale vs Ipswich on 17:40 - Apr 5 with 1408 views | NorthernDale | We dominated the game, but we were slow going forward, which allowed them to get them to getting organised and why do we insist on over passing the ball. What was worse was not shooting on the edge of the box, we seemed scared of shooting and instead tried to walk the ball into the goal or we trust pass the ball around their box. Without Humphrys we seem to lack a cutting edge, but BBM poor tactics and desire to have a reputation as a manager who teams play a passing game. They might not score, but they look good. The sad thing was that Ipswich looked there for the taking and despite dominating the game, we never had a shot on target, which says a lot about BBM tactics. Rathbone and Osho performances stood out.

My MoM - the ref Thought he had an outstanding game, and could so easily have given them a penalty. Allowed play to flow where possible in difficult conditions, showing more class than any of the players could summon up

Match Thread: Rochdale vs Ipswich on 17:59 - Apr 5 with 1235 views | 49thseason | "Rathbone and Osho performances stood out." But only to the extent that they looked reasonably competent. And 2 players out of 10 (not counting Lynch, who kept a clean sheet) isn't enough to win games. They look like a relegated side, going through the motions. Done , bless him, sort of tries, but rarely actually looks as if anything he does will have any effect on the game. O'Connell is a shadow of the player he was at the start of last season and the rest look like they have found out about football by reading books on the subject. The whole team is one-paced, devoid of ideas, and seemingly frightened of doing "the wrong thing". the game has become chess when what is needed is guts, determination and devilment. Oh, and shooting at the opposition goal would probably help.
Match Thread: Rochdale vs Ipswich on 18:27 - Apr 5 with 1102 views | Dalenet | Well BBM says he thought it was a tough game and our lads have put a lot into the last two games. He thought we were excellent. No mention of why we didn't have any shots on goal or why Vale wasn't used. But then I have only heard the snippet. Can't stomach the full watch [Post edited 5 Apr 2021 19:14]
