January Transfer Window 21:15 - Dec 20 with 61040 viewsHullDale

With about ten days until the transfer window opens, what’s everyone’s thoughts on the business we should be doing in January?

I’ve tried to pull squad details together as best as I can from memory here:

Joel Coleman (permanent, Summer 2022)
Jay Lynch (permanent, Summer 2022)
Brad Wade (permanent, Summer 2022)

Jim McNulty (permanent, Summer 2022)
Eoghan O'Connell (permanent, Summer 2022)
Jeriel Dorsett (loan, Summer 2022)
Sam Graham (permanent, Summer 2023)
Max Taylor (permanent, Summer 2023)
Joe Dunne (permanent, Summer 2022)
Matt Done (permanent, Summer 2022)
Aidy White (permanent, Summer 2023)
Corey O’Keeffe (loan, January 2022)

Liam Kelly (permanent, Summer 2023)
George Broadbent (loan, January 2022)
Conor Grant (permanent, Summer 2023)
Jimmy Keohane (permanent, Summer 2023)
Aaron Morley (permanent, Summer 2022)
Ethan Brierley (permanent, Summer 2022)
Stephen Dooley (permanent, Summer 2022)
Alex Newby (permanent, Summer 2022)

Abraham Odoh (permanent, Summer 2023)
Jake Beesley (permanent, Summer 2023)
Josh Andrews (loan, Summer 2022)
Danny Cashman (loan, Summer 2022)

For me, I'd be looking at O'Keeffe permanently as a priority, as well as trying to tie some of the regular first team squad down to longer deals (Summer 2022 as it stands could see an exodus!) - Coleman, O'Connell, Dooley & Newby would be the obvious contenders.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see Broadbent (& maybe Cashman) head back to their parent clubs in January, with maybe Morley moving on for a fee too.

Whatever happens, now the club seems to be more settled, hopefully Stockdale will have the chance to continue shaping the squad into his own - with an emphasis on more permanent players coming in. A centre half and a natural goal poacher (in the Alfie / Dagnall mould) coming in and we could really be setting up for a strong second half of the season.

All gone very quiet on the rumours.

He will have been at WBA at the time Shan was a coach there.

He's played most of his career as a winger, hence those stats. Moved up front and he's been a bit tasty.

Fans of clubs he's played against have raved about him.

Telling that he's also getting a lot of praise off opposition supporters. A couple from Wexham saying he's been the best player they've faced this season.

I'm waiting for the first poster to immediately dismiss him going off his career stats.

As has been said, he’s mainly been utilised as a winger throughout his career until Woking deployed him up front and gave him a run of games. Given the chance, he’s proven what he can do.

On a related subject...I think the board should be commended for demonstrating they are staying true to their word regarding reinvesting money received from player sales.

Downing - loan but on good wages, even if we're paying 50%
Clark - no fee but good wages for a player of that calibre
Charman - Fee paid, unconfirmed reports of £41K
Campbell - Linked with a six figure bid
O'Keeffe - Trying to secure with fee paid
Others - we don't know about others...

All while fighting legal action from a bunch of chancers.

They could be forgiven for taking a very cautious approach financially under the circumstances so fair play to them for trying to better the squad by spending money.
If anything will attract the crowds back it’s decent strikers finding the back of the net on a regular basis and bringing the excitement back to Spotland !!!

Agreed and I expect the squad to be "re-shaped" again in the summer, both through attrition and attempts at further improvement/upgrading.

Up the Dale - NOT for sale!

Seen quite a bit of Tahvon Campbell this season with Woking not far away. Started the season strongly but has generally regressed in a pretty poor Woking team. Talented though. I am shocked nobody has come in for Josh Kelly at Maidenhead. Similar profile as Campbell but miles better IMO.

I'd be quite happy with this signing, on paper. He's a decent height and as a striker, who's been a winger, he could fit well in a front 3 with Charman and Newby.

This would also give Grant the chance to play in the middle with Kelly (assuming an aggressive defensive midfielder isn't on the cards).

Guessing the other potential signing is a right wingback, O'Keefe or otherwise.

Seems like a bigger risk than Charman but RS will be more informed than us I'm sure.

Two excellent signings to my mind in Charman and Campbell.
So where does that leave us short?
Defensive midfielder and a right wingback?
I would suggest that, if the trail for O’Keeffe is going cold, we shouldn’t forget that perhaps there is already a replacement on the books.
I refer to Swiss Army Jimmy.
Does when anyone know when he’s likely to be fit?

Full back Corey O'Keeffe will also not be part of the squad and Clough expects him to join Rochdale, where he has had a successful loan, or elsewhere.

“I think that's getting closer with Corey — that's not too far away,” said Clough.

Says its getting closer with Corey is that with Dale or elsewhere

Ideally wants three, two is more realistic, will settle for one.

Right wing back and an aggressive central midfielder would be great.

Corey signs.
Sent off against Oldham.
We don't see him for another 3 games.

I'd take that!
