The club need to investigate our stewards in the away end. Just how are 50 or so dickheads allowed to stand and cause trouble at the wall at the front of the stand and not get ejected.

I am quite frankly pissed off with the stewarding at Spotland over the years. So often they will pick on easy targets like a small away following or home fans for minor infringements, but allow the likes of Bradford to get away with the type of infringements highlighted above. |  |

Our stewarding has been lacking for years, but this year seems to be worse than ever.
We have had 5 or 6 falls down the steps in the main stand this season (our ageing fan base) and the stewards standby and do nothing. There was a time they would help. On one occasion I asked a steward why he had stood by and done nothing and he just shrugged his shoulders. I don't feel safer because they are there and wouldn't trust them to help if there was a problem. | | | |

Yep. Someone had fallen down the steps right at the Sandy Lane end of the Main Stand at full-time after the Plymouth game and a steward was stood about 3 yards away doing nothing while people crowded past the injured fan. I told him it might be an idea to open the gates at the tunnel and try and direct people to the exit on the opposite side of the stand and he just nodded and said "yeah" then stood there and continued to do nothing. Thankfully some other fans managed to create a bit of a cocoon to give him some space and were then able to help him up but the complete lack of urgency/assistance from the steward(s) was alarming. |  |

Good Post At The Peake, I hope that I'm not coming across as sounding patronizing but well done for getting involved, I'll add to your post if I may - it's not (in my opinion) purely about lack urgency/assistance it's about lack of social skills, lack of awareness, lack of ability, lack of human empathy I could go on and on the bottom line is that this steward is clearly Pig Ignorant !
Hopefully highlighting the problem will bring this to the attention of the powers that be at the Club , surely it's not just about employing any Oik give them a fluorescent jacket and away you go , there must be some "Football Stewardship Training" involved - If I were a steward at Rochdale FC and doing a decent job then I'd want to know that this fellow in question is giving both me and the Club a bad name ! |  | | |
