They’re tweeting that their “matchday operations” are being restricted for the home game against Barrow on Sunday for reasons that they don’t want to divulge at the moment.
The bottom line is that the crowd capacity is limited to 920 and there will be no cash admissions on the day.
Wonder what that’s all about?

While I’m on, what’s your theory behind that?

Bet you don’t answer.

Not a theory as such, more an observation. A company that’s just posted £1.2m losses, is selling its assets (players) to pay bills and keep its lights on, whilst resorting to accepting charitable donations to cover legal bills is hardly flying?

I presumed reference was being made to a recent admin or insolvency act that I hadn’t heard about but that’s been cleared up.

I wasn’t aware the referee to admin was going back decades…….

Well you presumed incorrectly then, didn’t you?

Do keep up.

Super League being the “Elite” level of that sport.

Private ownership being not in the hands or ownership of “Supporters”.

You need to brush up on how to read a set of accounts RG.

At 31 May 2021 RAFC had a net worth of £1,501,843. After the trading losses caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Of that £1,501,843 it had £570,930 of cash at bank and in hand.

Now, I'm a betting man and I'm prepared to bet £100 for Springhill Hospice that the Rochdale Hornets accounts for November 2021 when published show neither a net worth of £1.5m nor cash at bank of £0.5m.

History suggests making a living in Rugby League is hard. Hornets accounts will be interesting reading.

A bit like Matthew Southall - hope they are filed on time!

Pretty sure you said these “five guys” at hornets had a few quid between them.

Or are you forgetting the absolute bollocks you’re talking?

For a bloke who reckons he knows the groundswell of opinion in the town you don’t half mind avoiding questions when pressed on it. Yet to see you produce any evidence that worries me but I’m sure you’ll pop along with some soon. Or not.

I don’t for one minute doubt you and there clearly is no money in rugby league so I won’t both with that bet if that’s ok with you.

Point of note - the 'club' isn't raising funds to cover its legal bills.

The legal action is against the Trust (so by proxy the fans) and individual directors. That's why the Trust is crowdfunding (very, very successfully by the look of it).

I don't know many businesses outside of healthcare (& related) that didn't make a loss in that financial year... it was also a financial year that included payrises for execs, as well as other documented issues with financial mismanagement and poor business accounting practises within the club. The new board can only be judged on the next set of accounts IMO.

Also - I don't think players were sold to 'keep the lights on'. Players were sold with the profits reinvested in the playing squad from what I can see. Morley could've gone for free in Summer, so (presuming we keep league 2 status) it was good business to sell him for £X now rather than nothing 5 months later.

For what its worth, too, I see Hornets as 'customers' of #RAFC. We have a product (stadium) that they want to buy (rent) so we should be doing what we can for them (customer is always right) so long as it isn't detrimental to ourselves.

So since the current lease agreements came into effect and we took ownership of the asset there hasn’t been an administration or insolvency.

Thank you for clearing that up.

Now I’m not a betting man but on current form I’d say there would be a greater chance of us going into admin than them.

Didnt a lot of dislike of Hornets come about when they wouldnt pay the rent, and also used to train on the pitch Thursday with full floodlights( not paying the electric bill) , and damaging an already poor surface.
Or was this just hearsay to upset Dale fans ?

I think it was down to the perception that playing rugby in Jan-March when the pitch was strugling was a problem ...... especially when the old Rochdale Hornets weren't paying their bills. It just stirred up quite a bit of resentment. Of course the RL season doesn't now start til later.

But Dunphy did a deal and that allows Hornets to play at COA for a fee and Dale would own the ground and manage it accordingly. There shouldn't need to be any smugness from Rochdale Glory to be honest.

What makes you think that? The person closest to Hornets board is their Chief Exec I would have thought......no Dale fan on this forum thinks GLORY is any other than someone with an axe to grind. Nothing to do with anyone from Hornets.

I see the same restrictions that were in place previously are still in place for this Sunday’s home game with North Wales Crusaders.

“ Parking will be free of charge on a first come first served basis “. What’s that all about ? Who gains from free parking apart from the car owners ?

I think the provision of free parking is to be applauded by all concerned.
It just an extra cost that puts people off coming and especially in these high inflationary times.

You can park for free on all of the streets around the ground so why not at the ground?

Hornets article says that Stadium capacity is limited to 920 including hospitality, press, and guests areas.

You'd think that 920 will be more than enough capacity given visitors from Colywn Bay. What will the crowd be? 400?

It would be interesting to know how many complimentary tickets Hornets dish out given that restriction of 920.
At one time in rugby league there was an agreement that the away team were always provided with 34 complimentaries for players wives and guests (13 players plus four substitutes x 2) plus around 20 tickets for directors and their guests.
I heard a couple of years ago that one or two clubs had scrapped this reciprocal arrangement as they said they couldn't afford it which isn't surprising.
I know quite a few professional players who now have it written into their contracts that they are provided with a couple of season tickets.
