Solid to a man, great stuff. Found it really hard to pick a MOTM for me as no one stood out but everyone worked really bloody hard! Done was exceptional with his pressing, Taylor had a good game (as did Dorsett, distribution aside) and Dooley did well when he came on, despite my worry that we'd lack presence in the middle when Ball went off. Lynch looked solid but wasn't really tested, happy days!

Which is why he’s deserving of respect even when being criticised constructively. Hope today would be (another) wake up call for fans when it comes to having a balanced approach towards both players and the manager.

First half too negative. Taylor to Bonesy to Dors all the time.
Second half huge improvement. Started to look like a team again. Thought Dooley played well and Grant was unrecognisable from Tuesday. Well done

Great game from our perspective. To say the team picked wasn't one I’d expected and losing Ball on top of that we did bloody fantastic.
I want to mention Lynch as my mom. Where did that confidence to go for balls in crowded areas come from? He was a different player today. HAND BALL!!!! 😀
Wonder if N’hmpton’s style of play suited us better, though?

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

Really good performance. I echo DA in saying that was near enough the perfect 1-0. Defensively excellent, good football, good going forwards. What really pleased me was the movement off the ball of our players. That, coupled with Northampton’s reluctance to press us (a breath of fresh air after Port Vale!), allowed us to make some really nice passages of play.

Everyone played well but a special mention for Done, who was very good, still has an unexpectedly impressive turn of pace, and created our best chance of the game (bar the goal). Keohane as well - when O’Keefe came back nobody was more excited than me but Keohane’s just put in a better performance than Corey has since his return.

Lynch was assured and the back three in particular were excellent. More of the same, please!

Echo everything above.

Hats off to RS for playing Jimmy and Done, thought they were both excellent. Campbell is getting better every game as he adapts to league football and I thought the back 3 played really well (Dorsett back pass aside)

For 2nd place, wow they were bad, looked like they’d thought they’d win just for turning up.

Saturday evening is always more enjoyable with 3 points in the bag!

I thought Keohane was immense today, he made a massive difference and I'd go as far as to say he will be the key that unlocks the way RS wants us to play. He was EVERYWHERE. Campbell is growing in confidence and today I thought was his best game in a Dale shirt. Lynch... where did that come from? He was claiming anything and everything in the air! One of his best games for us too I think... its as if someone injected him with confidence and he had grown about 6 inches.

Can't fault anyone today - players, subs, management... one of those days where it just worked. If we play like that for most of the rest of the season we'll be absolutely fine. 8 points from the last 12 against teams from the top, middle and bottom of the league. More than happy with that.

No trickery or looking for something special., a rock-steady player today. Thought Keohane added a bit of coolness to the team; helping us look pretty solid defending. I hope he keeps his place.

Max Taylor was great today, using his size, tussling for the ball, and also a threat in their box too, I really hope he goes on to improve, today he looked really comfortable in the tough world of league 2.

Campbell has the hallmarks of a good forward, using his muscle and drive trying to catch his marker off guard. The team is trying to get some through balls to him and he will win one soon and be through on goal. Another goal today for him going to help him push on to double figures.

My favourite Rochdale players are established partly on what they do on the pitch, but just as much on connection to their personalities and how they embody what our club is all about. Matty Done is one of the most likeable fellas to ever pull on a Dale shirt and it's great to see him getting plenty of recognition tonight. Swiss Army Jimmy seems to be cut from the same cloth and it was wonderful to see him back today too. That was a superb afternoon's entertainment.

A proper professional performance. Not seen that for a long time. Looked in control for most of the game with or without the ball.

Keohane was brilliant and his calmness on the ball really helped us keep the ball.

Matty Done brought some experience and Magloire will be having nightmares about him tonight.

Jay Lynch and Dorsett also deserve a mention.

But Jimmy K should have done more with Matty D's pass:

Brilliant performance. Man for man we stood up to the plate and wanted to win those duals.
As many have already said, I thought Jimmy K was brilliant and you just know what you are getting week in week out. When others may not be on song you need atleast 5 or 6 putting in a solid performance to come away with anything, Jimmy K gets in that 5-a-side team all day long.

Lynch was making noise too, I thought he looked well up for it today.

I wish Dooley would shock us all in the coming weeks and score a 25 yard screamer. Possibly the most shot shy CM I’ve witnessed. But, he does help us tick along and keeps it simple when simple is what is needed.

Credit to the Sandy Lane today. It was refreshing to hear a bit of atmosphere about the place. I’m all for the drum. Keep it up because it’s like an old peoples home most weeks. Granted we haven’t had much to get excited about at home for years.

A win on Tuesday and hopefully we can see the potential in this team on a more frequent basis when the pressure starts to ease. It’s there, we all know it. We just don’t see it frequently enough.

That’s the double done over Northampton.
Wasn’t there today but interested to hear that Lynch commanded the area. Just wonder if he was told to be positive to combat their excellent strike rate from set plays. In any event very good to hear. Jimmy played the full game, big effort given he only got on the grass 3 weeks ago.
After the debacle on Tuesday this was a great result. At last we are converting a few close games into wins. Always thought the squad was ok, and I can now say it out loud. The fixture list in March looks pretty tough. But today is an affirmation of the belief that we always play better against the better teams.

As an aside how nice to see Fabio Tavares score a beauty for Coventry today. Another academy graduate.

It was a good performance and we fought for every ball, I had my doubts at the start of the game, with the changes made to the team, but it worked out well. what a contrast to Tuesday performance.

Can’t argue with any of the above posts.
I’d like to give a mention to Dorsett though, really out himself through the pain barrier in the second half and was dead on his feet at the end.
Special mentions to Dooley too, looked the part when he came on, and O’Connell who looked really sharp today.
They were a big physical team who could quite easily have intimidated our back three but didn’t.
Kelly looked more alert as well and Jimmy was, just Jimmy, like he’d never been away.
The thing that struck me most though was the management/coaching.
The team balance looked right and Matty Done was an inspired selection.
But what remains in my mind was the late substitution.
For years our default replacement when one nil up at home was to send on Calvin and sit back and invite teams to press.
RS sent on Grant and said play down their half and get into the corners. Brilliant tactically.

Talking of Done, he has drawn level with Wayne Evans on 297 Dale appearances today.

So, one more game and he will climb to outright seventh place, with only Gary Jones, Graham Smith, Ian Henderson, Reg Jenkins, Ray Aspden and David Thompson ahead of him.

Fascinating. Maybe because his Dale appearances fall into three separate periods, he seems less 'high profile' than his rivals.

Of the six ahead of him, only Hendo might be able to add to his total Dale appearances - in the not very likely event of him returning next season.

Good shout out for Kelly - one of his best games for us I think.

Very different to his 'best' performances when he first joined that were based on precise passing or creating chances with an incisive long range pass... today he ratted at their midfield and back 3 non stop, found positions to make space for others with short one touch passes, and generally pulled them about to create space.

I'm thinking this squad when fully fit could work in a 3 2 3 2
Eoghan Dorsett Downing
SAJ and Wee man
Clark Ball Corey
Campbell and Charman

I forgot to say that if you’d told me at 12 noon last Saturday that we’d accrue seven points from the three games in the coming week I’d have been more then happy.

Hendo is done. Retirement beckons, can't shake his back injury

The points haul in the past seven days, on paper alone, looks decent. However, the rollercoaster of emotions over that time also needs to be noted. The first half against Scunthorpe and the entire match against Port Vale showed us at our worst and the rest showed us somewhere near our best. So it’s about consistency of the latter if RS is take this team back to challenging for promotion again. That’s why I think it’s important we wait until next season to judge fully where this team is going on the pitch.

Meanwhile, we can hopefully also resolve the issues off it, so that he has no unnecessary distractions over the summer and beyond.

No place for Jimmy after today’s performance!!!

Personally I think Corey has looked a shadow of the player since he came back

Dorsett was immense and my MOM. Really pleased Campbell got another goal that turned out to be the winner.

Note- it came from a cross out wide not via O'Connell. Everything through him just isn't working offensively for us.

7 welcome points in 8 days is a fantastic return. Onwards to Carlisle.

Has anyone any views on the pitch yesterday?
I noticed that when Stephen Dooley was doing his concentrated warmup at halftime that the ball looked to be bobbling in an area between the halfway line and the penalty area at the Sandy Lane end.
Previous posters have alluded to inconsistency and this is maddening when applied to individuals who can be turning in 9/10 performances one game and then totally anonymous the next.
I suppose that if these players had consistency allied to their skill they'd be playing in the Championship though.

true, they would but also fair to say the pitch has become very bobbly recently - perhaps yesterday's new tactics of touchline wide players and long crossfield balls was a response; it certainly worked
