"Gutless, spineless, toothless, clueless and pointless..."

Okay, let us in on the secret...

...which five members of the playing/coaching squad are those your nicknames for?

No names, no pack drill! Although if these are 5 of the 7 dwarves, they're making me start to feel sleepy when watching!

When P45s start being dished out there'll be a trail of breadcrumbs to follow if you want to pin names on!

Unfortunately as I said last week.
We dont have the players.
He has brought in players where we obviously need improvement , but those players are rank S""te .
The defence is P!""poor and always will be , with those 3 lemons at the back. The lad from Sheff Utd can go back today , thank you.
Our midfield general looks as though football is generally out of his capabilities.
Rodney and Sinclair are a joke , neither has ripped up any trees where ever they have been.
I'm afraid RS has signed a complete waste of players.
Out of that line up today including subs , I would say at least 10 should be nowhere near this club.
I am actually fearful of the drop this season. If we go down we wont be coming back.
I dont know what RS can do to change it now , since these shocking defenders and crap midfielder and hopeless forwards are his signings. These are players he really thinks can do a job.
I didnt go to Gills , but against Crewe I saw enough to tell me all this rubbish he signed will not be good enough.
Whether I can bother to waste my hard earned cash on boring , error riddled games, with players showing no passion or commitment to the team and fans , or throw the towel in and stop punishing myself waits to be seen.
I would be so happy to be proven wrong, believe me I would ,but the bookies may have it right this time.

I know how it works, but you're managing to outdo yourself now, which takes some doing.

Undoubted knowledge? Or just the application of common sense and using my brain?

I think there may have been a suspicion of offside about the goal, I was almost directly in line and O'Donnell may have had a point. Terrible marking either way.

Edit: having just looked at the highlights it doesn't look obvious but there definitely seemed a case at the time.

When "a suspicion" becomes "a dead cert"

From the now deleted picture the Gillingham goal looked clearly offside.

Firstly, though it was a silly free kick to give away by Ball, it gave Gillingham the opportunity.

From the free kick the Dale held a “high” defensive line on the edge of the area, the first Gillingham player (Kashket) went early towards the front post and was in an offside position when the kick was taken, he went on to have a free header to “score” as the offside was not flagged by the assistant referee. In the premier league (VAR) or possibly with better officials, if we were in a higher division, this goal would have been disallowed.

I don’t think Kashket was really expecting to receive the ball at the front post, I think he was simply trying drag a Dale player backwards out of the defensive line so that the remaining Gillingham attackers in the middle and far side of the area would be played on side. This is a simple tactic that most teams use.

The RS system of defence was implemented correctly, no one broke from the defensive line until after the kick was taken but they were let down by a possible mistake by an official.

Now a question for RS is, when defending dead ball situations does he consider and now plan for the inconsistent quality of the officials and not rely in offsides being flagged? Does he change how we defend in these situations?

I was going to ask about this in another thread. Does zonal marking rely on certain areas whereby if an opposition player is in one it is likely they are offside? That it is favoured in higher leagues because the (excuse the pun) referees and their assistants are more on the ball.
I wonder why that photo was deleted, I assume copyright infringement.
