What this demonstrates to me:
1. It's a really tough job managing Dale
2. What an amazing job KH did to buck the trend of all the managers and sadly looks like a once in a lifetime manager for us
3. Robbie Stockdale is on borrowed time by the looks. Circumstances need to be taken into consideration but if the trend continues until Christmas when the team is considered to be his own then the axe must fall

I just feel that every season is a battle to avoid relegation now. Very reminiscent of when I started watching us in the mid 70s and early 80s when it was a battle to avoid the re-election trapdoor. It felt more enjoyable watching then due to youth and nostalgia but now it feels like a chore. Most of the similar sized clubs in my early years barring Crewe have ended up dropping and without a Hill or Parkin find then I fear the worse | | | |

But our natural level has always been Division Four and we have always been at a level with clubs like them. Having had success under Hill doesn't change that.
It will always be a battle to sustain league football for a club of our size, but we did it before Hill and Parkin and can hopefully still do it now, although things do need to improve quickly.
Those clubs have all spent a significant amount of time in non-league football over the past 30 years and, in the cases of Darlington and York, ended up there by having, shall we say, questionable owners. Similar with Oldham. [Post edited 7 Aug 2022 11:06]

The situation with Stockdale reminds of the situation with Coleman. Both came across well at the start and the fans really wanted it to work out. I don't recall similar enthusiasm for Buckley and Eyre. Coleman refused to change something that was obviously not working, now we have Robbie doing the same. | |
