You could be forgiven for thinking that these foul-mouthed malcontents had a different agenda to every other Dale fan with the way they express themselves and the way they verbally attack and accuse people of misconduct without a thought for the consequences or reputational damage. It seems like a deliberate concerted effort to undermine all the good work that has been done in the last 12 months. It's crackers and entirely counter-productive.
The personal abuse stuff needs to stop and they need calling out for doing it.
We've played 2 games with an almost entirely new squad, against 2 teams who were playing in League One last season.
Of course we would have liked different outcomes and generally better performances. I read somewhere that Dale have had a bigger turnover in squad numbers than any other club in the EFL.
Anyone thinking that those players will all gel into a smooth, fully effective team after 180 minutes of League football must be expecting footballing miracles we've never seen before.
It's better to get behind the team and encourage the players than try to create divisions between supporters who ultimately (surely !) all want the team and club to succeed.
No-one should be calling for managerial changes after 2 games. No-one. |
Didn’t go to Gillingham so can’t comment, but the team and manager received good support against Crewe which mirrors most of what happens at games. There are certainly few issues in the ground, of course there will be minority flip side examples, as fans have backed Dale well despite the results and performances.
The constructive criticism and doubts amongst fans who want Stockdale to succeed should not be dismissed, nor would I expect the manager or the club to do so even if they or all fans don’t agree with it. |  |

The title of this thread is a bit inflammatory and a over exaggeration two games into a new season. The Bottomley/Morton House saga is what has shook the Dale not a couple of football results. We have a new team more or less so they will take a bit of time to bed in,i expected that and also the performances to be a bit up and down during this process.
My main concern from the Gillingham game was the post match interview, Stockdale looked broken and his comments alluded to a lack of effort and desire from the players, this was confirmed by those who attended the game. If the players aren’t up for it at the start of a new season then serious questions need asking and unfortunately that reflects very badly on the manager...so does the Charman injury and the circumstances regarding that.We can put up with bad performances along the way but not a lack of effort, desire, fight, spirit.
I want him to succeed and i think he’s signed some decent players but to suggest that they are busting a gut to play for him on the evidence of the first two games would be wrong. He needs results and performances and he needs them very quickly. If managers live or die on results then Stockdale isn’t a well man at the moment. |  | | |

A slight digression, but the nature of football in recent years has become very frustrating. On Saturday against Grimsby, most of the players could jog half-heartedly around the pitch, not put challenges in, not chase back...basically, not try.
RS gets sacked, another manager comes in and then those same players could suddenly decide they need to try, or they'll be up for the chopping block in the coming months. The same players could then win games, simply by putting in more effort.

We’ve seen the pattern of performance, not just over the two games of the new season, but much of last too.
We were a progressive side up until September of last year. We worked the ball into the box and were effective. That hasn’t happened since. Where do you look, if not at officials who make mistakes? [Post edited 9 Aug 2022 10:04]

My worry Judd, is the recruitment of sub standard players. Usually you see a new signing in a position we have needed in the previous season. But all these new signings look well below par.
How can players look exhausted, not interested and lacking the fight to win after only 2 games. They should be raring to go, yet that Crewe performance seemed like an end of season , " already on the beach" game.
I am genuinely worried for this season . As I mentioned before if we go down I doubt we will ever come back. RS seems a nice bloke , but I dont think he can maange his backside to the toilet and his recruitment is shocking. | | | |

Ironically, we also failed to test him at Crawley in March.
It was a poor performance, which the manager himself said. The goal (with 81 minutes still to play) did not knock the stuffing out of us. We just didn't play well at all; it really is that simple. |  |

I dont think its a lack of talent, I think the players are sick of the system too.

This is what RS needs to do. Have a few beers, pick an attcking side, take the stabilizers and restrictors off and let them play. Otherwise this is going to be a dire season ending with him having no job.

Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference but had that goal been ruled offside it might have given the team a kick up the proverbial, yes it might have given the opposition the impetus to put a hatful pass our keeper. But being down on confidence starting off poorly and conceding from a set piece can't have helped matters. Confidence and self belief is an important part of being a modern sports person otherwise why are sports psychologists a thing?
