24/25 season ticket, how many free games would you consider fair?

Without any additional benefits like reduced kit price or pie vouchers etc, how many ‘free games’ would you consider fair/good value?

Be interesting to know what people would now be prepared to pay after recent ‘cheap’ season tickets and our current situation…

"Free" games don't really cost the Club that much, and the loss can be reduced by the fans spending money at the game in any case.

McNulty needs to change his game tactics to get the fans excited (a bit like last week) and not revert to the boring slow stuff on display tonight against Barnet. That might get a few more through the gates.

Not sure what "Free Games" means... I paid £276 , £12 per game to watch matches prior to the Cheap season tickets offer as an adult and an adult ticket in the Sandy is now £175.or 7.60 per match a loss to the club of 4.40 per match

if every season ticket went up by £2 per game that would be £46 x 2000 - £92,000
if they went up pro rata to where they used to be you would add £101 to every season ticket - £202,000 more revenue.

The problem now is what is a fair price to watch non league football....

You know very well what "free games" means in this context

It's the number of games beyond what you've paid for your ST that you'd have paid more for had you attended all 23 home games paying full whack

If we aren't to price the floating fan out of turning up, rather than increase the potd price, reduce the number of "free games" for ST holders

£300 equals £13 a game instead of £22 on the day in the Pearl St. Not sure I'd pay any more than that to be honest for non league. Certainly without my season ticket this season I wouldn't be going paying on the day.

Ah , OK so why would anyone who is a regular pay £15 as a pensioner price to stand in the SLE ? Thats £345... £195 more than a season, ticket , the better part of £8.47a game more... more than double!
The whole pricing structure, is bonkers.

The amount to pay on the day is obscene, dont really care what any other club charges either that's their problem, but the price to just turn up and watch non league football is ridiculous.

Main stand = £310 ST and £24 potd, so you're more or less paying for 13 games (£312) and getting 10 free, based on potd price.

I think the ST is probably too cheap, and whilst I have brought my other half to quite a few games this season @ potd price, and will again this Sat, it's not great vfm for the fayre dished up most weeks. She called George Nevett boring last time she came. He isn't, obviously, but she happened upon one of those games where he and EEL were attempting to break the CB square pass record for a season in one game.

You've being deliberately obtuse

A pensioner with a ST wouldn't pay £15 to stand in the Sandy, since it'd be priced at below that i.e. to include a number of "free" games, which is what this thread is about

In many instances, not all 23 games can be attended, therefore an "average per game" is no more useful than the idea of "free games"

Most importantly, differential pricing structures across different stands can ONLY be usefully assessed as "number of free games"

That’s exactly right. I’ve had a season ticket in the Sandy for years but buy it in the almost certain knowledge that as I live out of town I won’t in all probability be able to attend midweek matches.
I’ve said in the past that they are underpriced but, having said that, if a considerable price hike was to happen I may have to do the maths and see if, under the circumstances, it was worth renewing.
The danger is if I didn’t renew then there then be certain Saturday matches that I couldn’t be bothered to turn out for anyway.
It’s a bit of a personal dilemma to be honest. Will just have to wait and see.

It may need some reallignment and the cheap pricing in the Sandy was driven by a wish to create a low "prices from" headline. THat was why we could argue we had some of the cheapest season tickets in the league at the time

Now we are non league and there isn't widespread differentation between stands and seats in the majority of clubs in this league. You have long argued that we needed to significantly increase season card prices. So lets start at £340 for the Sandy and go from there. It would give a fan a 6 game price benefit (or free games) and allow us to charge £20 admission money. There are plenty of seats in the Pearl Street or Main Stand for those that won't pay £20 to stand. If we keep the other stands match day prices at £22 and £24 accordingly and offer season card holders the equivalent of 6 games free - that would mean a mainstand price of £408 for a standard seat.

How does that feel to you? I won't comment about whether it is worth it for the standard of football on offer - but you have to hope it will improve at some point.

You are way out there. We currently charge £20 for sandy, £22 for Pearl St and £24 for the mainstand. If we can't afford to cut prices we shouldn't try - yet you are now suggesting we do. Start with todays POTD prices, work out whether it needs to go up or not, then discount for season ticket holders. I think a 20% reduction for seniors over 67 is necessary. As are deals for young people.

Someone who stands near me has a season ticket from over 10 years ago in his wallet and it's over £100 more than we pay now.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

How I wish we were where we were 10 years ago in terms of football and entertainment. We can only dream. But agree with you - and our current POTD price minus a 6 game discount will mean season cards will be £100 more than last year (or thereabouts) and more reflects the real cost of trying to run the club. That seems fairer to me.

49th if trying to argue that some people like the Sandy Laners should get a bigger discount. But then he admits to using the Sandy.

A season ticket for 2010/11 £277 for the sandy lane

That’s about £12 per game compared to £7.60 now

Sandy season ticket @ £299 (£13 p/game).

Everywhere else @ £345 (£15 p/game).

POTD Sandy @ £18, everywhere else £20.

Dale Card £25 per season which gives you entry at the season ticket rate if bought in advance and any season ticket benefits.

Allow pay on the GATE.

Agreed re, concession pricing but without knowing the split in terms of Adults, Pensioners and U18s in different stands. we can only guess at the relative numbers ...

I think prices will need to go up and that the difference between pensioners and adults needs to be smaller. but without numbers you cant judge the impact of the changes, If 70% of ST holders are pensioners you might lose a considerable number if the increase is deemed too big or the discount too small.
I do think that the POTD prices are a problem, perhaps there should be a discount voucher or a membership card that gives say a 15% discount off POTD that people can buy for say£26 or £30... so not as cheap as a ST but a saving for people who come to a decent number of games.
I imagine, anyone trying to figure out a budget for nest season will set a figure that they want to achieve based on this seasons attendances and work backwards to a pricing structure from there, depending of course on the promotion and relegations....

I’ve just read that Tottenham have increased their season ticket prices by 6% across the board for next season and scrapped over 65 concessions completely.

Where are you getting the percentage age splits from?

Therein lies the problem, without access to the data on splits by age and by stand, we can only make educated guesses.. which is probably what the club have been doing for years..especially without a CRM system.
Hence my doodling with numbers which I inadvertantly posted...

All we know is the number of STs sold. We can guess at the revenue they generate , but the reality is we dont really know, the only solid statistic is that the gate revenue in the accounts divided by the total attendance figures for the season seems to run out at an average of around £13 per head. If visitors are paying £20+ as part of that, you have to assume there are lots of home supporters paying a great deal less, me for one with my pensioners Sandy Lane ticket...
