passing it around aimlessly at the back is what lead to Woking's goal. How many other goals have we conceded this season by doing the same thing? and yet we still persist. The definition of madness.

if we stay up, and if the new ownership gets over the line - a fresh start for next season needs to see someone else taking over the reins. Jim has been a long standing servant and I don't doubt at all how much he loves the club. There's no doubt he's found himself in an extremely difficult situation this season. But performances, and results, have too often been absolutely dire.

We might just about have enough to stay up this season, thanks to some decent results earlier on, but look where we are now. The form table from last 10 games has us 22nd:

https://thefishy.co.uk/formtable.php?table=5&tab=tab-last10

It's by no means certain we can keep playing like we have and avoid another relegation. Even if we do, its difficult to say that on the pitch we have halted the decline of the past few years. Something has to change.

I suppose that table is a bit misleading because the records for Ebbsfleet and AFC Fylde include periods in a division below the NL when they gained promotion but I get your point.
Dale's playing record ever since we slithered out of League One has been atrocious.

and Jim has been in charge for 46 of those 100 games so I’d hardly say he had nothing to do with it either

Tad unfair to judge him on the games he managed after Stockdale and Bentley were sacked when he was acting as an interim manager.
Looking through the results this season up until the post 'winter break' slump we had not lost more than 1 league game in a row. Those that a thinking there reservations about giving Jim the head coach position full time are being proved right, if come the end of the season we finish comfortably mid table or even with in sniffing distance of the play offs. Do you think he will deserve a chance under the new regime or will you be calling for the new brooms to sweep clean?

James

He wasn't my choice at the beginning of the season.

However i think hes done a decent job with the limited resources he has.

OK the footy aint great but i think the priority was to stay in this league in the first season by hook or by crook.

This looks reasonably likely we are as close to relegation as we are the play offs..i think neither will happen and we will end up mid table.

Personally i would give him next season also when hopefully he will have more resources..i doubt any other manager would have done a better job than Jim has.

Do you go to games?

I am genuinely unaware of anyone else who attends that thinks like this.

We are incredibly lucky that we scabbed a few points before Christmas, otherwise we would be in a real relegation dogfight.

The current form is woeful, the current football is abysmal, the tactics are non existent and Jim is showing absolutely no sign of learning from his mistakes. There’s no indication of any sort of progression in his coaching mentality or management and he doesn’t have enough stock (like a Keith Hill) for us to be able to put up with this stubbornness/arrogance.

OK, things have been tough off the field but that only partially excuses some of it.

If we do have a club to support, he cannot be the manager at the beginning of next season

No i dont go to Spotland..

The only games i see are via the National League tv offering..ie midweek and the occ Sat when its international break.

The reason i don't go to Spotland are nothing to do with the style of play...they are non football reasons.

We are all entitled to an opinion...i respect yours and hope you respect mine.

For me Jim will fix it..given the resources required

UTD

Just as a side note..i am along with millions of others a fantasy football league manager..i have every resource possible at my fingertips to select a high performing team week in week out..i presently stand at position 6,395,000 or so i doubt the guy who stands at position 1 could do a better job than Jim

What do you base the opinion "Jim will fix it" he's shown spectacularly well already he's incapable of fixing a fair few things, not sure what extra "resources" youre thinking of that you'd like him to waste, we've been played off the park by part time football teams with smaller "resources" this season, id be pretty sceptical giving him any more money to throw around.

There's a really sick joke in there somewhere but even I'm not going there!

Jim started out poorly, I was very critical of him the defeat against Hereford and the walking football on show was awful, we were utterly clueless and showed no attacking intent.
Then with performances like Hartlepool away and Altrincham at home I thought we had started to turn a corner and a push for the play offs seemed likely.
Then came the enforced break and we have been dreadful ever since.
What annoyed me is it has been proved that when we play with tempo we can play well and it's good to watch. Jim must have seen this too and yet unfathomably we are back to awful to watch walking football.
I wasn't a fan of appointing Jim in the first place but slowly he started to win me round. Unfortunately I am back to where I started and unless we have a really strong end to the season I think he has to go.

I honestly expected us to fall through this league at the beginning of the season..so for me we've don't better than expected..anyone who thought we would bounce straight back must be born optimists.

I think hes done well with what he has..i don't think hes wasted anything certainly compared to some of our recent managers

I’m not saying I don’t respect your opinion but your posts are definitely indicative of someone who doesn’t attend games. And that isn’t a dig btw.

I’m sure that things look very differently from afar and in isolation.

In reality, Tuesday aside (where we were extremely lucky to get anything), it’s 1 win in 10. That’s relegation form. Even more worrying, without Cian Hayes carrying the team, it would likely be much worse.

And there is no sign of Jim turning it around.

We have conceded numerous goals from fcuking around at the back (Tuesday being the latest debacle) with absolutely no lessons learned whatsoever.

There’s no game plan, no tactics and no real sign that things are going to improve whatsoever.

The apathy, lethargy and boredom is palpable around the stadium. I don’t think we as fans would be so bothered with our on the field plight and league position if we were being entertained.

But we’re not. It’s absolutely gash. And we are playing at the lowest level in the clubs history

Replacing the manager will not necessarily bring about the change that some desire. The playing philosophy across age groups is possession based. A new manager will be expected to play this style and integrating players from the academy when suitable. Surely you don't just want Jim gone you want the playing philosophy throughout the club to be totally changed.
What style of play should the club adopt?

I know midweek matches historically attract smaller attendances but I’m surprised that no-one has mentioned Tuesday’s crowd.
Basically, for whatever reason, approximately 500 season ticket holders didn’t bother turning up.
There will be a variety of reasons but some of those must simply have been fed-up after Saturday.
And a percentage of those might not bother renewing come summer.
Worrying.

It's not necessarily the style of play, it's the tempo which has gone right down. If we pass it around with pace, pull teams out of position, make runs into space and have an end product it would be fine.
It isn't, it's slow and lethargic. We overplay it and get caught in possession. We make mistakes and that is now costing us goals. We pass it back taking a negative option almost like we're waiting for the perfect opportunity rathe than having a go and gambling on our forward players making a run.
I don't know about the Sandy who were great on Tuesday but I find that in the Pearl Street there's an apathy building up. There's a resigned sigh that goes around when we pass it back to the keeper again, which can turn to anger. It's an entertainment business and to often we're not entertaining.
This (in my opinion) is down to the tactics and therefore the manager. I haven't seen a single team in this league, granted I've not been to every game, that with a bit more drive and attacking intent who we couldn't have beaten and its so frustrating.

I think we need 4 points at the most to get to safety, which should be easily achievable given we have 8 games left to play. This is a golden opportunity for Jim to show us that he can change his spots and get his team playing exciting football and win the fan base over again. It's in his hands and I really hope he does it. He's a great fella and a Dale fan full of passion wanting us to win...just bloody change the tactics or else you will be sacked. Losing valuable supporters is very much Jim's fault in my opinion and he needs to put that right.

Jesus saves but Beasley scores off the rebound.

Agree. BJ's future is in his own hands and will depend on results and entertainment.

Hope he can be braver and bolder than he has been on the field by ditching the coaching manual for a while. Otherwise he is a good ambassador for the club.

Incentivise the squad and give the investors no option but to offer him a new contract.
