| TVOS Preview - Rochdale v Brackley Town on 21:25 - Jan 3 by robshaker | what u idiots dont seem to understand is your club has a long track record of winter match postponements and never seem to do anything about it only now while its too late mid season why cant you do this in the summer like all clubs?? Bury recogised we needed a new pitch so changed it in the summer time like any normal club would do which means no inconvience to anyone else, you lot waste other clubs and the fans time, resources, money on a constant basis.. that does need investigating you have known for years your pitch is fuc ked but done nothing about it, a points deduction as punishment is not realistic enough but definetly a massive fine/compensation to all the clubs you have wasted their time and money over the years. having a pop at southend or any other club who got postponed today you are an absolute disgrace. How many trips was it boston made to your shi thole again last season?? A crippling fine is due i reckon. [Post edited 3 Jan 21:39]

HNY pal. We spent a reputed £650k on a new pitch 5 years ago that came with a 19nyear warranty, announced at a fans forum amidst much mutual self back slapping. Something went wrong. To say we've done nothing about the pitch over recent years is not at all accurate. Didn't Bury receive a significant grant from the public purse to put in the current pitch? All the best.

and HNY to you lad... so is the current problem with the pitch down too bad maintainence then on your clubs part? summut about the wrong type of sand rings a bell? either way your club is responsible, is the company who installed the pitch 5 years ago doing the work for you now then? you dont have much luck i remember years ago summut about pitch covers from holland you spent loads on and they didnt work either!! We received funds from the football trust, council and partly funded it ourselves. all the best. [Post edited 4 Jan 0:06]

Deary me Rob. You have no idea what you are talking about. We spent a fortune in 2020 rebuilding the pitch. Not quite the sum you owed creditors, but a sum of c£700k as Judd shared above. That is not 'doing nothing' about the pitch. The club were told by advisors that the current pitch would last the season and the Board were prepared to wait until next summer to do the work. The Ogdens are spending a 7 figure sum to do it now. The tax payers aren't funding it in the way they have funded bury. And for a new club, you haven't yet reached the point where you will need a full rebuild as there won't be a public purse held open a second time around. But your time will come. And I can remember the tractor ploughed field the now defunct Bury FC played on at Gigg. You were the laughing stock of the league at the time. Short memories eh. But then you support a different club now. Anyhow, as somebody that follows the Dale closely, and know how many postponements we have had due to the weather and pitch in the past 5 years, can you tell me how many games it is? The Gigg Lane pitch was one off the best in the country at one time and you know it. you lot bury your heads in the sand too much ( no doubt the wrong type of sand!) a crippling fine would be well deserved. [Post edited 4 Jan 0:25]

In all honesty no one has been able to accurately state what has gone wrong, but to say we seem to have done nothing about the pitch is not true. The Boston issue was very bad, not too dissimilar to the numerous postponements when we went to Wycombe a number of times. Altrincham called the game off about 10 minutes before kick off yesterday. What we do know is that shareholders rallied to reshape the board in response to concerns about how the club was being run since the 10 year warranty claim, a not insignificant amount was spend on the central circle area last year with advice that the club should last this year, plans were in place to replace the club this year but the pitch deteriorated far worse and far quicker than expected so a long-term plan to replace the pitch with the support of the league and clubs affected is going ahead, with contingency in place should the pitch not be ready for 24th January.
