Well I agree to having good security but these lot are p£££ing me off when entering the main stand. Week after week they have checked some thing different. 1week I have to take my hat off and the next few matches never get checked. Then today they more or less did a strip search on me they are so inconsistent that I think I will turn up naked on Wednesday and see what they do then. |  | | |  |

We used to have a Stadium Safety officer/ manager. If we still have one he/ she should be all over this thread. What's the point in patting down elderly fans going into the stadium, asking them to remove their hats etc, its disrespectful and daft isn't it? I know people who steward at the big Manchester clubs and they don't do that, so what is going on? Are the stewards not capable of using commonsense and being selective who they search on profile analysis? That's how the police work and other security personell. This is Rochdale football club, there isn't this level of security at Wembley Stadium. It's called commonsense and its something those in charge of running the stadium need to start embracing..and if stewards are touching children as has been suggested then the police need informing, never mind the club. Those in charge of managing the stadium would know that though wouldn't they? What's the point in frisking OAPs etc in any of the stands, it's laughable really.
Having one exit to leave the Pearl St stand is a breach of health and safety also, as somebody who has experienced this crush it has to be. There are three exits and enough stewards, why are those doors remaining closed when this stand also houses the families, young children etc? Somebody is in charge of the stadium on matchday , that person either needs educating or replacing. You don't funnel well over 1000 fans into one exit and that person should know that, a dark winter night and fans exiting through one gate onto a unlit car park riddled with pot holes and uneven surfaces. Why would you do that when you don't need to do? It's because it's easier for the stewards..kettling people in one area which they shouldn't be doing. At some point somebody will fall, or there will be a medical emergency in the crush, the club will be open to litigation then...open the other two exits for gods sake which has always been normal procedure, it isn't rocket science to open a door! Another issue with the way the exits were closed: at the end of the game (understandably, after it's been a tight finish and after a half time pint) many want to use the gents on the way out. The stewards had placed barriers across the openings from the stand to the exits meaning access to the gents (and ladies, of course) was cut off
After a few angry and insistent voices, including mine, they relented and opened the metal barrier enough to let us through, though the exit door remained shut so we had to double back afterwards
The last time i had to ask permission to use the loo was in infant school. This only adds to the lack of thought put into this, and the public inconvenience (pun intended). Apart from which, i'll be damned if i'm going to have my rights infringed by a callow youth with a silly grin on his face being paid minimum wage... not his fault though, it's the club and the safety manager. This one will not go away until it's sorted |  |

The Stadium will have a safety certificate to stage sporting events and closing two thirds of the Pearl Street exits will be breaching the regulations when you look at those in attendance in that stand, it would certainly be frowned upon.. It's disrespectful to our fans and as i pointed out this is also the family stand next to that exit so young children and their mums etc shouldn't be subjected to the crowd surge and jostling that has happened this season. I spoke to the person in charge of the stewarding company at the summer forum. I don't have any solutions, apart from stop doing it to the extent they have been doing recently when it is completely unnecessary, such as asking old men to remove their flat caps!
Whether your input as an individual is minimal or otherwise shouldn't really matter, as there's enough additional evidence on this thread, albeit anecdotal, but no doubt accurate.
I must admit, for the last 4/5 games before Christmas and the Truro and Southend games since, the stewards were more than happy to just let people walk in. But then on Tuesday v Boreham Wood, they started searching everyone again. My guess it was a dry run for yesterday, but that's speculation. [Post edited 8 Feb 14:56]

Fans who all exit on the car park side still then have to walk down towards the other gate if they go home so it can’t be to keep them apart from away fans who are usually housed nearer the Pearl Street anyway.

I was in the Pearl St end and all the searching bollox is completely unnecessary and ridiculously ott, why do we now need searching when we haven't for decades previously, what's changed?
What do they seriously believe OAPs and young children especially are wanting to enter the ground with?
Surely an easier way to deal with potential flash points after a game like yesterday is just keep the away fans in for about 10 Mins after the final whistle, allowing all the home fans to get on their way if they so wish, its not brain surgery we're trying to fathom out here. | | | |

To be fair, I think the Trust have always acted as a go between to collate questions which are then read out by the bloke with the microphone. It’s worked quite well before, especially if they’re read out as sent - there has to be a response then. But yeah, if not asked as written in, it’s not great but not aware of that having never sent one in.

I don't mind being checked but having your arms and legs patted, being told to turn around, then have the exact same done again but just facing the other way, is not productive or necessary. | | | |
