To the game itself. Who knew Dan Moss had that pass in his locker, brilliant. Mani finishes it great. Also Mani does like that tap in with the heel part of his foot. BH and Carlisle away and his first last night. How did we win all those games in his absence, superb when you think about it.
Callum Perry in the highlights makes a mistake and FGR didn’t capitalise. He is learning fast which can only benefit us and Coventry.
When it comes to substitutions Jim is developing balls of steel. I wouldn’t have had the nerves to make some of them. Taking East of while Harvey is sitting on a yellow shows his faith in Harvey’s professionalism.
On to Yeovil and who will Jim decide to rest by not asking them to get on the coach. For me both The G’s Gordon and Gilmour deserve a rest. But I think Jim would have to fight them to stop them getting on the coach. My other question is will he play young Perry every game, injury permitting, until the end of the season? If he were ours I think not, but he is a loanee so I can see him doing it.

I know it shouldn't but that 90 +13 min winner for York feels like 2 points dropped. Hartlepool are saying it was very soft too. [Post edited 11 Feb 22:45]

You sort of miss my point TS, I am.not saying he shouldn’t include them in the squad or team, but a long away trip on a Saturday followed by yet another tough game on Tuesday, has undone several teams this season. Jim is cautious in this regard and I can definitely see some starters on Tuesday not being on the coach on Saturday. Do I think the two G’s won’t be travelling, no. They will want to play every game. One player I do think will start on Saturday is Allerakia. In any event we will put out a team capable of winning. | | | |

That said I wear my centenary shirt to the Knavesmire parkrun most Saturday mornings and have started to get a few comments so we're definitely in their heads. They're also just as glass half empty as us after years of disappointment and have Oldham still very much in the front of their minds.
No reason why we shouldn't be backing ourselves, their last minute heroics look like momentum builders but they'll also be creating a build up of stress and cortisol to the players and fans nervous systems whereas we're doing it with a bit more calmness and come April we have to hope that'll start to see their dam walls break.
Really happy for Dan Moss. His first interview during preseason hinted at him being just the kind of personality that belongs at our club and current changing room culture, it's great to see one of life's good guys getting his moment in the spotlight after being so patient. | | | |

While I wouldn’t leave out those two either, we have to fully trust the decisions made around utilising the squad. Like when Hogan came in to good effect against Truro and all the regular changes since, there’s clearly a plan for every game.
It’s working well, but no doubt there will be a change we don’t all agree with and it might not work. It’s that we are at the stage that to keep on track, it’s accepting that.
Back to Gilmour, I actually thought he didn’t have the greatest game last night and would have replaced him rather than East. Especially after getting that yellow card |  |

Read on Twitter they bricked a 'Pools minibus carrying adults and kids after the game. Not my definition of decent KB. A lot (not all) come across as supremely entitled and cocky on the socials too. Prolly a vocal minority as is often the case in life |  |

I'm not admitting anything. I heard the cheer go up near our full time, and someone saying Pools had equalised, but like with any tittle tattle I assume it's all bollocks until I get home and look at the scores properly, and when there's a FT next to them. | |

Yes, agree in respect of Allerakia. The position that concerns me is the centre of defence, EEL has been great this season but when it comes to resting him you're replacing him with a player of similar advancing age, i would have liked to have seen that position strengthened. Natural rotation has been taking place anyway during games. There are certain players in the team though who simply can't be replaced, we're weaker without them. That's normal in every team in the country, it's very rare you get managers resting their pivotal players in league games, especially when you are in a two horse race to win the league. Thanks KB, i tend not to watch new signing interviews, very difficult for them to say anything other than "i'm delighted to be here and the manager's great" but you're right about Moss and he's showing us he can perform to a high standard

Liam Hogan was on Manchester Radio last Saturday with Keith Hill all afternoon. Now whether he is injured at the minute or just being given time off I don't know. He's not been involved in any matchday squads since his Truro run (walk) out. I would imagine the back 3 + Whatmuff being more or less a mainstay now for the run in or at least till the title is won by either us or York. | |

Agree with all who say not to rest our key players, They are all on a roll and will be pumped up. Can`t imagine of them wanting to rest. By all means use the subs if necessary. EEL is just turned 33, is playing his best football for the Dale. captaining the side and is introducing Perry to men`s football. Hogan is 37 and is providing support.
Incidentally this game at Yeovil is the same game last season when EEL collapsed with his injury after 20 minutes and Ferguson took over very successfully. But Jim obviously didn`t like Ferguson and soon after recruited Hogan who took over the 26 games that EEL was out injured. I don`t think EEL will want to miss this match. | | | |

Another special mention has to be the pitch.. what a difference.. There is zero chance that game would have been played if the work had not happened.
Plenty of end of season twists and turns to come and a big IF.. but two more wins would mean a minimum of a 5 point gap... and that game in hand.
The club is just connected / joined up / moving forward.. you can see the belief just oozing out of the players totally bought in.

A very even game..they prob feel they deserved a draw...very possibly
Two slips in defence by FGR opened up our opportunities well taken both times.
From back to front Dale look assured at all times on the ball all players happy to receive in tight situations always providing an outlet for team mates.

We HAVE to be 4 points ahead of them going into the final game. |
That is the ideal position, of course. I would just point out since our 4-1 loss to York in mid November we have dropped 3 points and they have dropped 4. The pressure is very much on them not to have any more stumbles. They have failed to get maximum points on 10 occasions this season, for a loss of 22 points. We have dropped 14 points from the 5 games we haven’t won.
Both teams will drop points before the end of the season, but the fact is they have a greater propensity to drop points than we do.
So York will have to turn that trend around, and we are both such strong sides it is not easy to see that happening. | | | |

I didn't rate Ferguson at all, and agree with Jim on that decision. Same with Sassy who he brought in, both slow to respond to danger, often caught flat footed and not to be trusted with the ball at their feet. We have to remember McNulty sees these players in training every week also. I think age has caught up with Hogan but i'd still prefer him to those two. If EEL picked up a injury i'd be worried though.
I know modern coaching is all about using data but i don't believe going down that route to try to predict when a player is likely to pick up a injury is the right thing to do, certainly not at our level. We don't have the luxury to start pulling players out of the team because some computer analysis says player A, B or C 'might' be ready to pick up a injury. Injuries can happen at any time irrespective of what data suggests. Let's not over think selection, Yeovil pushed a very good BW side all the way on Wednesday so we need to be ready for a tough game. We've played less games than everybody else, have a big squad and most teams are playing Saturday/ Tuesday. The repercussions of the Brackley away game are yet to play out, let's not start dramatically changing a winning team just for the sake of it. We're flying at the moment. [Post edited 12 Feb 22:58]
