Let’s be positive. We’re clear at the top of the league and, looking at the next month’s fixtures up to the Southend game, there’s no why reason why, provided that people put their shooting boots on, that we can’t go on another run. I can see the Halifax game away game being a potential banana skin but how did they contrive to lose to Gateshead last night? Sorry if I’ve tempted the FGs there. The only issue for BJ this morning may be reassessing his team for Saturday. Did he anticipate the likes of Mani D and Rodney playing 90 minutes last night? Could well be a chance for Allarakhia and Hendo on Saturday.
Could be wrong, but think it's Mani D's first full game since his return from injury. Just getting up to speed then, and starts on Saturday. The idea of players being unable to play twice a week when they've had a break shouldn't be a consideration. I'd be inclined to give Francis a start to see if we can convert more of our chances
As i posted yesterday morning, a draw isn't the end of the world since it takes us top again but the management team have to find a forward combo that can convert more of the many chances we create. Mani D gets his share. The performance was fine last night. Gilmour is a concern, but i like the way Pettit anchors the midfield
Dev is a joy to watch when he is on it. His control and awareness create space for others and cause panic in the opposition. Given his abilities I don’t know why he can’t also turn in anonymous performances quite often. Last night was the former but despite his form we couldn’t breakdown a resolute defence. Having had successful attacking intent at 0-1 and 1-1 in the first half, seemed odd to me that Scunny went so defensive immediately after half time. Maybe they decided they could not match us up for the whole game. It was a good performance against decent opposition, so onto the next match in pole position.

I personally think that Smith is that man.....his goals / games stats this season suggest that he is pretty clinical when he's on the pitch!

Thought Ebanks was magnificent throughout last night. The last two games, we've attacked like anything especially in the second half, but no goals. Had the possession, let down by poor crosses and finishing. Surely one day it'll come right and the goals will fly in!
Talking of Ebanks, he became the 79th player to reach 150 first team appearances for Dale last night.
I'm not a maestro, far from it, but I just engage my brain before posting.

Going through the posts here I think nearly all agree that we have a problem putting the ball in the net considering how many chances we create. The keeper didn`t make a save in the second half.
The Scunny result was not a bad result when you take in the defeats of Southend, Carlisle, Boreham Wood and Forest Green. But not beating a poor side like Yeovil even when down to 10 IS a worry.
It shows that our finishing has become dreadful. So many shots are lifted over the bar. When you see them practising with the small nets before a game, they are dynamic with only the keeper to beat, but go to pieces in the game. I wonder how much shooting practise they are given.
The problem is with Tyler Smith out of action and Hendo reduced to bit parts, and Devante not scoring, we have no goalscorers of any quality.
It`s all very well saying "Don`t panic" but we are now on the run-in and need to treat it as such. It`s not too late to sign up a young striker from the EFL on a short contract loan. If we can sign up yet another midfielder ,on a long-term contract then surely we have the funds to go for it.

I'm glad you found it joyful. I prefer effective and didn't leave the ground feeling particularly joyful. Depends on priorities, and ours is winning back a place in the EFL. Hendo should've been brought on much earlier, he's proper joyful to watch and knows where the back of the net is

None whatsoever? What about the bloke with 17 goals to his name?
However, while you make a good point about the chances we're missing, saying "sign up a young striker from the EFL on a short contract loan" is easier said than done, otherwise we would have probably done it by now. I imagine it's nothing to do with finances, but more to do with availability.
You were there at Yeovil; our main failing was not creating enough chances. As I posted over the weekend, two players with 16 assists between them this term repeatedly failed to pick out a man. It's something that has thankfully been rare this season.

The Henderson conundrum is linked to Dieseruvwe. Unless we suddenly switch to a front two, it’s rare that both will be used at the same time - as seen by the substitution on Saturday which probably came too early.
He did come on with Diesruvwe still on the pitch late on last night though, but again went wide. Unfortunately when he’s played that role he hasn’t looked anywhere near as effective (Brackley being the best example) with his talents now primarily suited to playing no.9.
Don’t think anyone would argue about taking a joyless promotion, it’s a good job there’s been plenty of good football, at both ends of the pitch, alongside the consistent need to win games.

You obviously have more faith in Jim`s concentration on attackers than I have.

He’s signed a striker who was sought after by other clubs, one who is probably on a significant wage. He’s added to that with Amantchi, Smith and Duku over the season.
Have the signings all worked out? No. But it is simply wrong to say the manager has any less concentration on the striker role than other areas of the team.
If anything, it could be said we haven’t had enough options to challenge EEL in the role the manager played throughout his career.

You know as well as i do there's no such thing as a joyless promotion
I don't regard bluster as joyful, and that's what Rodney offers. Getting excited because he decided he'd pull his finger out after half an hour isn't joyful either, more like clutching at straws, in pretty much the same way he clutches at chances
I think deep down after last night and last Saturday most of us now expect York to go and win it. Our bad habit of missing lots of chances created (go back to the Carlisle away win in September) will be our downfall. Our shooting in and around the box is embarrassing at times - just practice more in training! In both ours and Yorks last 10 games we have scored only 1 goal in 5 of those 10 matches. The 1-2 loss v Hartlepool, 1-0 win at Solihull, 1-0 win v Carlisle and now the two 1-1 draws. York drew 1-1 with Southend in the 9 other games they've scored 2's, 3's and a 5. It's hard to drop points when you are scoring for fun.
Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10
A comment from a Scunny fan on their Board probably sums up where we are. "York are the best attacking team in the division and Rochdale are the best overall team. Will be an interesting fight to the end". We are certainly a complete team, and if York weren't doing quite so well, we'd all be very happy with what we have. Amassing north of 100 points is dreamland for us - regardless of whether we are top or second. Lets make sure we do.

You’re right, I was trying to say that it would always be joyful no matter how it was achieved. Just clumsily. As in if anyone did think reaching the League again would feel joyless they would probably not appreciate what an achievement it was, irrespective of how it happens.
On Rodney, it was good to see him looking more like his old self last night after performances over the last few months seeing him being on the periphery. Others may disagree, others may not. I’ve been the biggest advocate that it is vital that he steps up his game.

His finishing last night was poor again though.

That’s a realistic assessment of where we are I think. The concerns everyone had right back to games like Carlisle away when McBride should have had a hat-trick remain. Thats not to say we still haven’t been excellent, the table shows that we are. It’s that in a shootout like this, we need to be ruthless as well as relentless.
It’s why also why we have needed that York blip. We will overachieve in terms of points from what anyone could have expected at the start of the season. It’s that they could be Wrexham to our Notts County.

Oh yeah, he wasn’t the only one. Was trying to give a balanced view.
At this point, it’s about staying positive. For me, there were positive signs that we may see the same Rodney we saw for the end of last season contributing in a similar way this time around.

We shall see.
agreed - the dynamic runs were back one of which led to the chance Dieseruvwe should have buried, another to the pen. (all less than DA's 30 mins rule!) & East's goal.
ps - don't bother trying to placate DA; it's like asking Trump to be humane

no it didn't, Rodney is 50 yds away
For goodness sake, watch the game more closely
Rodney received the ball on the edge of their box and got easily dispossessed. The resulting move led to their goal, with Rodney scratching his arse 50 yards away...

Always try and reply to the post rather than the poster anyway! Open to listening and reading through all opinions, it’s interesting to hear and appreciate different perspectives. Even when I might disagree.
If Trump starts telling us we should change the away kit to Stars and Stripes, my concerns would focus on the choice of sock colour. Not the overly dramatic way he announces it on Air Force One.
Refwatch - Rochdale v Scunthorpe United on 12:37 - Feb 18 by dawlishdale
Correct. Think it was Gordon who misplaced a defensive pass straight to them from which they scored. Rodney was nowhere near the incident.
As per my reply to tr, his error in possession led to their goalscoring move. I guess if people can't follow a sequence of play beyond the end product, they'll make errors in assessment
