Absolutley gutted. Our most prized asset and he wants to leave.

Hope the club stay strong and command the fee he is worthy of, hes one of the divisioms best players so taking into account his current situation hes worth a minimum of 100, 000. Just hope we use some of the money to replace him and NOT with thompson.

Leader of the little gang of immature cretins.

You could be right! From a recent news item:

Manager Steve Evans has a number of potential signings in mind and there have been talks with player representatives and prospective signings who have been shown the New York Stadium.

But assistant manager Paul Raynor added a new dimension to the club’s search when he outlined where they will be looking in addition to more established players.

“We want young, hungry players,” said Raynor. “It will be part of the club looking to the future.”

It sounds like Rotherham are the favourites to sign Danny Hylton from Aldershot. Crewe were in for him but were "blown out of the water" by Rotherham's offer.

A source of mine has just text me, to say he is on Chesterfield's radar! However, I heard a whisper on Saturday, that our friends the other side of Heywood want him...

Chesterfield where there are two former Accrington managers in charge? Edwards would be better than Trotman too.

the timing strikes me as being odd. Hill did one interview. Then we as a club released the statement followed by another interview, in which it said that the request was first made at the end of last season. I'd be very surprised if it was simply a case of Grant asking again or putting it in writing between the two interviews. Something has clearly happened. Perhaps we caught wind of a club in talks with Bobby and we're trying to smoke them out.

I thought the timing was odd too.

Still, Hilly knows how it feels to be touting around for a new club in a higher division.

In Hilly's interview he says "certain managers are playing a politcial, tactical, out of order game". That statement doesn't leave much to the imagination. Hilly seems very comfortable with the situation though, so I think any transfer negotiations are going to be done on our terms.

It also strikes me that he can take him or leave him with regards to Grant, I'm certain Hill has a trick up his sleeve.

Life is a game of fate.

Hilly does indeed seem comfortable, even stating that Grant is still in his plans for the foreseeable. Also said Grant had intimated he wanted to leave at the end of last season and was asked to think about it over the summer but obviously hasn't changed his mind.

YOU do not have the right to give someone else permission to tell me what I can and can't do.

Grant should be applauded for his honesty, i would rather he was up front about his feelings than pretending he was happy playing at Spotland. The sooner we ship him out the better.

On his day Grant was class but there is another side to him which i feel will always ensure he remains a lower league performer and at some stage i think a bust up with him and Hilly would have been inevitable.

In short he isnt a Keith Hill type player and i dont reckon he would have bought into the team spirit which the manager always puts as the number one priority.

Sometimes you date a bird who you know is completely the wrong type but there is something about her that you cant resist . Deep down you know it wont last and will probably end in tears, this is what you get with Bobby Grant. It was good whilst it lasted !!

Speaking from experience, TS?

Bobby Grant hands in transfer request! on 15:07 - Jun 17 by ChaffRAFC

Christ almighty, I've just gone cold all over at the thought of losing Bobby Grant and replacing him with Joe Thompson.

I know that Hill is a big fan of Marc Richards. I once asked him (while we were both drunk in fairness) who, if the chairman gave him a big sum of money to spend, he would want to sign and he immediately said Marc Richards. Could he be lured over from Chesterfield?

Chaff,

They has picked up on your thread on the chesterfield message board..

http://www.thecfss.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=45999

Which is interesting. Whilst attending barnet v chesterfield a few months ago all the CFC fans informed me that grant had a gentlemans agreement to sign for them in July. I informed them he was under contract, they all said it was a done deal and I would see. Suppose they could be right....

Probably our most talented player, so it is disappointing news irrespective of his disciplinary record.

Most important thing is that we don't lose him towards the end of the transfer window with no time to sufficiently replace him a la Le Fondre and O'Grady.

As an aside, I find it highly unlikely he will be found guilty in court given that it is one persons word against another. Question is, whether the FA, following the Terry case will hand him a ban anyway.

Most talented ? Debatable

Biggest liability - without a doubt. If he wants away, ring him a taxi. He's clearly not 'on-board' with the ideas and team spirit that KH is trying to engender and most importantly he doesn't seem to want to be a part of it either.

Let someone else take the risks and let him sit in someone else's stand for 10 games a season.

Whatever way you look at it, Grant is a valuable member of the squad and we are worse off without him. To not replace his quality, should he go, is a mistake, if what Hilly says is true. We paid a half decent lump for him too, so we should be looking to get that at least back. Did Scunny have a sell on clause?

This sort of thing is what makes management so difficult.
Bobby Grant was work in progress for KH and if we are to be fair the progress was good. Had KH been able to work with him for another 6 months or so i think the concerns about temperament (which by the way was a problem born out of determined over enthusiasm rather than malicious intent), would have faded into the past. He had undoubted talent and more excitingly, potential to be realised. It's a pity he doesn't see that a year or so at dale with the new MT would be worth far more to his career than a quick sideways move now. But that's life.
He will be missed but it's not terminal for dale - he has more to lose than us.
Good luck to the lad who has plenty to worry about at the moment.

Bobby Grant is interesting Bradford after he sent in a transfer request at Rochdale. Grant impressed when Rochdale beat Bradford in December and Phil Parkinson could be tempted to bring him to Valley Parade.

Lets hope he brings his pal Kennedy as well

Rumoured Bury targets are

Calvin Zola (Burton)
Stephane Zubar (Bury)
Ryan Lowe (MK Dons)
Jack Mackreth (Macclesfield)
Bobby Grant (Rochdale)
Ben Parker
Tom Soares
Ryan Cresswell (Southend)

Its hopeful that most of these deals will be completed this week in time for Pre Season training. Although Cresswell and Lowe look unlikely to join as they are set to join Fleetwood and Tranmere respectively.

Stephane Zubar (Bournemouth) sorry

Rochdale have agreed a fee with neighbours Bury for striker Bobby Grant. Grant was at Gigg Lane before lunch today to agree personal terms.

Source - the same one who correctly revealed the names for the new Bury directors and the arrival of Ronnie Jepson as assistant manager.

Any chance of directing us to the post naming the directors before they were announced?

Thought not.

Hartlepool Manager Colin Cooper is keen to sign Bobby Grant if he turns down Rochdale. Although Cooper is keen he may find it difficult to convince the Hartlepool chairman Ken Hodcroft. Grant was arrested inn 2008 alongside Steve Gerrard for an assault though no charges were brought against him. Grant scored 16 in 28 last season for Rochdale.

More chance of pools signing Sheila grant

I think no matter what we may think of him as a person and how he's conducted himself on the pitch, he still got us 16 goals and we will need to replace those goals by bringing someone in, and not just hope one of the young uns has a blinding season.
