Following on from another threadBitter prices and best pint ? 16:17 - Aug 6 with 824 views | Nigeriamark | the 2 things I miss most about not living in the UK are Dale games and English bitter. I have just spent 20 days in Manchester and Derbyshire ( + 2 pubs in Halifax when we played the friendly) and have tasted about 25 different hand pulled beers. Prices seemed to be £2.49 at crown and anchor in Manchester to about £ 3.75 in Ashbourne I am over at the end of August for a few days for the Bradford game. What is the best hand pulled bitter in Rochdale ( Usually drink at the Cemetery on match days )? What is your favourite UK bitter ( Always been a Thwaites drinker but like to branch out). Best 3 pints on my last trip were 13 Guns ( or 14) - Thwaites, blackburn Wrens Nest - Howard town Brewery, Glossop Bakewell best Bitter - Peak ales brewery, chatsworth

I've had it in Wetherspoons on a couple of occasions too, absolutely lovely stuff.

Would also recommend anything from the Green Mill brewery http://www.greenmillbrewery.co.uk/ Also worth suppin if you're anywhere near the Peak District: http://www.bollingtonbrewing.co.uk/our-beers/ [Post edited 6 Aug 2014 18:19]

I have to say I was very impressed by the Peak district offerings. Probably tried about 10 ales and not really a bad one amongst them. Nice traditional pubs too with real substantial food. Half a stone added in 20 days !!

I've been exploring the area since meeting my partner who lives on the Cheshire/Derbyshire border four years ago, and couldn't agree more. I've put on a bit of weight too. The steak & ale pies on offer in t' pubs are fantastic, and the chips are proper thick cut, but its a great place for walking and there's other ways to work it off!
