Scott Tanser & Tom Kennedy 13:10 - Sep 3 with 3295 viewsdale1996

It seems these 2 have both played well this season and rarely put a foot wrong, so how can we fit the 2 of them into the same team with the arrival of Jack O'connell.
For me, taking inspiration from Cavanaghs change in position to CDM later in his career from fullback an the likes of Phillip Lahm etc, I see no reason why Kennedy couldn't play the same role Matty Lund played up until his injury- sitting deeper allowing hery and Allen creative freedom. My team would therefore be:
Lillis
Rafferty Eastham O'Connell Tanser
Kennedy
Hery Allen
Vincenti Done Henderson

Subs: Diba, Bennett, Rose, Dawson, Fenelon, Andrew, Camps

Didn't work with Rose and you eventually get caught out making these changes and having centre backs on the wing and left backs in centre midfield etc. Theres nothing better than years of experience in a position or at least in the same section of the team ie. defence, midfield, attack. if we were going for a defensive midfielder then i'd choose Stephen Dawson.

how is anthony elding still in league one?

By all accounts, Dawson didn't play that role past night, nor has he been one during his career. We seem to favour a deep lying two in midfield now.

I still think he'd be the best in the squad at playing it if we were going to use one but I don't really get why we're so keen to change things when we aren't doing that bad. I'd keep the Hery and Allen duo but ensure we put on Dawson last 30 minutes just to maintain energy levels and concentration. Two young lads for 90 minutes are bound to start going off the ball a bit and get lost in the game despite their great ability.

Same thing as non-league, tbf.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Which of the professional leagues is that then?

You could probably pick a Dale xi from the current squad where the ten outfield players have all got experience at left back.

Done, Kennedy, Rose and Tanser for Dale, recently.

I think Joe Rafferty had a game on the left for Dale when Kevin McIntyre was absent a couple of years ago.

BBM played there for years before Bury moved him to midfield.

I think Sean McGinty had a game there for the Blunts..

Some of Jack O'Connell's loan spell at York was at LB.

Joe Bunney played there in some sort of bounce/friendly game to get an insight into positioning.

Finally, and speculatively - Calvin Andrew has played enough games to have bee put back there to cove after an injury or red card. Alternatively, Rhys Bennett wears #3 - must be for a reason.

I'll leave it to greater minds (Tazzy! ) to put them into a formation... :)LB
