8th June and 3 players in already... 11:23 - Jun 8 with 1623 viewsoddjob007

Does this mean Hilly is getting his number 1 targets?

Gone are the days of signing the likes of Dele Adebola at the end of August! (hopefully!)

Hilly always used to like August as a time for signing players. Was always a gamble, but you'd get value for money by signing players who haven't been getting a sniff of first team action or signing players from teams who needed to do a bit of shape shifting to turnaround a poor start to the season. These days, he seems to prefer the settled squad approach and having them all on the plane to Tenerife.

I know we're not signing the likes of Messi etc, but we do seem to be attracting a higher quality signing too. We're never going to compete with the majority of League 1 but teams are turning the bigger League 2 sides down for us rather than just cherry picking from the sides relegated to the Conference.

Don't let Parkin's Gimp see that, Col.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Makes you wonder if word has got around and players actually want to come and play for the club now.. rather than it being a final option when no one else wants them.

We could even be seeing the benefits of Mr Hill's 9/10 years in management - targeting players such as Alessandra, local who I'm guessing won't be demanding a premium salary to come 'home', McNulty, who Hill has managed previously, and doing what he does best with broken toy McDermott.

In a strange way the sale of the likes of Done works well when attracting players. We may pay them less but they know that if they play well they can earn a move.

I suspect our latest signing was offered more money to sign elsewhere but chose Dale.

If we didn't allow our players to leave for a fair price would we be able to sign then in the first place?

Hope Conrad Logan is on his hit list until Jonathan Diba is ready to go in-between the sticks before becoming a England U19/U20/U21 regular
