Big, big win 17:19 - Dec 19 with 2255 viewsColDale

Don't think we were at our best today, but absolutely no arguments about the result or the scoreline, and if anything we could have added a 4th or 5th. For me, it shows where we stand as a team. We are clearly better than the relegation threatened sides, but just lacking that bit needed to push up at the top end.

There was a Matty Lund masterclass just after Colchester scored where he ran the game for about ten minutes and it was enough to put the game to bed. We'd lacked a bit of energy up until their goal, though the boos that greeted their goal would have come regardless.

Didn't see the penalty offence but it seemed like Kettle gave it for the 2nd offence after missing the first one, and that pass by Hendo to McDermott for the 2nd looked like Hendo at his best. Good to see us taking advantage of the succession of corners (tho it came via the free kick) - looked to me like it was an own goal rather than courtesy of McNulty (I think) who claimed it.

Best player for me was Cannon, who I thought had a great game.

Big, big win, and three points is three points setting us up nicely for the Xmas period.

It was Camps with that pass for McDermott I think.

Very happy with that win, expected a win, and that has happened, don't know how well we played, but as far as I am concerned it's,

UP THE DALE!!

Good weekend, with other results of some of our rivals going against them and other teams I dislike losing.

There were some still booing Donal's back-pass to the keeper as he stroked it into the net 2 or 3 passes later in the twinkle of an eye.

MOM from the sponsors, it was his error that gifted them the ball for their goal but aside from that had a decent game.

Think it's only the second game this season where we didn't pick a booking up

tbf McDermott was having a mare - and not just for their goal - until he found himself in acres of space and tucked it away nicely. Played ok after that and amazingly enough stayed on the pitch until the end. But MoM? Nowhere near (don't mean you thought he was Lama)

Mom either Lund or Cannon, though for me Calvin did everything you could wish for in leading the line, and unlucky not to score.

Overall, a solid performance and agree with Col - this keeps us well away from the bottom four and just 4 points from sixth place so we should continue looking upwards but lacking that touch of class that'd get us there. Another home win on Boxing Day and some moves once the January window opens and we can take on the top six.

It was a sluggish start culminating in them taking the lead, never agree with booing but it was out of frustration i think. The minute the booing started the players seemed to up their game and play with more determination like they had been woken from their slumber.

Nobody had a poor game today but Colchester weren't up to much. Great win but there's still another 20% improvement left in the tank, which us a good sign

I'd have given MOM to Ollie Lancashire, he's hunting down Vardy an Lukaku.

Agree he was having a mare up until the goal, fair play to him his head went down for a few seconds after their goal but he shook it off soon after.

30 points and we are not even half way through the season. Not bad at all.

There was the odd silly comment in the main stand, they were laughed at as usual, but the crowd were pretty positive as Beech requested pre-match. 2100 home fans was a few more than expected so praise due off the pitch too.

Somebody commented that we should thank Wigan and Bury for their attendance today swelling the crowd to 2200+ today.

Lancashire was much better today. Whether he should be in the side is a different argument, but a player can only do his best when picked.

Agree with all of that. For me that was Lund' best display in the last 18 months. I thought we were poor today but Colchester were awful. Most importantly though it's 3 points.

Result was all that mattered but more important than that was the character shown after going a goal down because that could have really knocked the stuffing out of us.

Lund MOM. Calvin was OK but that miss illustrates why he's not good enough.

It makes me wonder whether we do any scouting of the opposition before we play them. For the first 20 minutes we were lumping high balls up to Calvin until somebody realised they had some big units at the back who could deal with that all day long.
Different gravy when Lund decided to orchestrate the midfield.
I can't help thinking that the biggest loss in the summer wasn't Dawson or Olly the groundsman but that performance analyst who went to New York City football club.

Lund was excellent.
Lancashire was very good.
Keeper did well except for one heart attack moment at 3-1
Donal much better

It was very refreshing to see a side come to Spotland and not resort to diving, cheating and time wasting..... except for their left back who was a very angry arse who thought it was cold enough up north to wear gloves.

Ref was excellent. Don't think I shouted at him once!
