When else are we supposed to play them?

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

the original date would obviously be best.

Boxing day Monsoon fair enough the PP v Crewe.

last Saturday is a tough one I am not 100% the club / groundstaff did everything in there power to get the game on.

you could see the PP coming a mile off on Friday morning. ( not sure why there was so little effort.

combine the above general apathy with the statement about the newly purchased frost covers last season it all doesn't quite add up.

The Only PP in League 1 and above for a frozen pitch is rubbish.

Not really - you said it was going to be -10? Most replies said if the club put pitch covers down IN TIME we'd be O.K. They didn't. They put them down Friday afternoon.

D Alien,

You think the club didn't want to play?

hard one to swallow that.

I know there was a lot of discontent after Hornets played on the previous Sunday and made a right old mess of the playing surface ( reported - I have not seen the damage to the pitch myself ).

I mentioned that had Dale played - then there was no way Hornets would have been called off on the Sunday. Maybe the Dale decision was made with that in mind. The pitch was already wrecked from 2 games the previous weekend. Although we have the same problem now the weekend after next with the Hornets v Oldham friendly the day after we play Burton.

Yes, of course the original date would 'obviously be best', but that wasn't really my question.

If the frost hadn't arrived, the club would've been in a real dilemma. Playing on such a badly damaged surface could've easily led to the game becoming a farce (at best) and injuries to players at worst.

At least there's time to carry out repairs and allow further drainage now. In short, yes, I'm convinced the club didn't want the game on and what's more, I'd agree with them.
