I notice hornets played at Spotland today and won 70-6 attendance 455, top of their league. Their next home game is 3rd July so about 6 weeks for work to be done on the pitch - lord knows it needs it.
Don't know when the works starts. The pitch wasn't too bad apart the the usual bare patches that always seem to appear. That patch in front of the main stand to the the left, around the edge of the penalty area looks a bit rough.

It might be alright for throwing an egg but it needs improving for the football
No, the bar was quiet today. Not helped by the bar staff calling last orders at about 6.00 !
All helps , however Seams silly to me to close the bar when there are customers still wanting to buy drinks. Look after the customers and they will return.
South Wales don't bring many if any fans. I can't blame them, it's an awkward journey to make knowing your team's probably going to get well beaten. Only a few stayed for a pint.
It's not an attractive game for home fans either. Like they say - if you don't hammer them it's a poor game and if you do hammer them it's a poor game. I personally don't get much pleasure from seeing a team beaten by 70-6.
Another sizeable group I know who would stay go down to the Cricket Club now the season has started. They don't like paying the prices at the ground.

There's no incentive for them to drink there anymore.
Quite a few feel that way. I had my usual allocation of dos San Miguel.
It's a bit of a tradition to have a pint in the bar after the Rugby. How many posters on here go in the bar after the football ? How many go elsewhere for a pint after the football ?
I'd be interested to see if it's the same.
I know quite a few Rochdale fans come down to The Baum after games.
I've never been in the bar at any ground after the football.
How easy is it to get in the bar after a Rochdale game ?

No idea, but they do it safe in the knowledge of where the money is going.
When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?
Some of us who are long in the tooth recall that there were many seasons where the biggest incentive to drink was simply being at Spotland. :-)
The most bizarre post-match atmosphere i can remember in the Ratcliffe was after the 1-7 hammering by Shrewsbury. We were laughing into our pints at the craziness of it.
