How is it possible to tell from that angle?!

All that is certain is that it's really poor defending from Canavan initially.

How can you tell?

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Not quite sure how the linesman has given that? Other than the obvious reaction of Bolton players claiming it's gone it - it's not ever clear after around 20 viewings - it's impossible to tell.

Maybe from a side on view it could be seen that the ball was in?

Clearly? Through a sea of legs, bodies and the goalposts - he has terrific eyes if so. Don't you have to be 100% certain? Is it possible he was wrong?

Of course it is, but he had a better view than anyone else and we'll never be able to prove it one way or the other, particularly from the only camera angle available.

We clearly saw the ball over the line whilst Raff was trying to clear. Was sat at front of 2nd tier int posh bit on half way line.

Linesman got it spot on.

Probably the right decision.

Why couldn't it have been that Uruguayan linesman from Bloemfontein in 2010?

That's a spot the ball competition isn't it? I thought the ball was the white mark on their Number 6's arse for a while. If it's the white blob by their 18's foot then it's still not clear, but it was given so it's done.

Behind Wilson's legs.

If Ref's and their assistants are encouraged to go with their instincts in situations like then I think that they've probably got this one right.

That's our 18, Keith Keane.

Correct decision, which also shows there was hardly anything blocking the linesman's view, particularly the post as the ball was beyond it.

You can see from the video link above if you pause it on the scramble in front of goal it's clearly over the line unfortunately.

It's been mentioned by Clivert about the ball being behind Wilson's leg/foot but on that photo he's not stood on the line.

The other pic posted on here the ball looks white rather than yellow which is odd.

Edit: think it's just very blurry in fact.

Image 21, if it doesn't go straight to it.
Doesn't look over, assuming Raff's foot is on it.

But a photo half a second later would give a different story
