Seeking Help for L1 Wide Season Review / Summer Transfers Preview 05:38 - Jun 9 with 1714 viewsUbiFides

Hi all,

Tranmere fan here in peace.

As newly minted league one members, I'm looking to put together a fan-sourced and fan-made division wide round up and was hoping I could find one or two of you willing to write something in the following format for Rochdale:

Club Name
Manager (or likely candidates)
Tenure (of current manager if applicable)
Ownership Situation: (appreciate this may run long for some in the division)
Main Fan Forum:

Star Player:
Underappreciated Gem:
Top Prospect:
Potential 19/20 Breakout Year:
Fan Scapegoat:
Waste of Space:
Dream Transfer Target:

Season Review: (< 200 words)
Tactical Overview: (< 200 words)
Plans & Priorities for Preseason: (< 200 words)

If people are interested I'll post the full round-up here once I've got all the teams responses.

Please forward the bury response to this. It will make interesting reading, and we are obsessed about that well run, famous old team from t'other side of Heywood.

Rochdale
Manager: Brian Barry-Murphy
Tenure: been manager since February 2019
Ownership Situation: relatively new chairman (only 6 months into the job) but seems to have carried on the legacy left by Chris Dunphy
Main Fan Forum: www.rochdaleafc.com

Star Player: Ian Henderson
Underappreciated Gem: I think we've got a cracking right back in McLaughlin
Top Prospect: Dan Adshead
Potential 19/20 Breakout Year: Aaron Morley
Fan Scapegoat: I feel MJ Williams gets a lot of unnecessary criticism
Waste of Space: None really stand out in such a small squad at the moment, but Matty Gillam comes to mind
Dream Transfer Target: Danny Mayor

Season Review: All in all, another disappointing season, although we did well to finally kick on and secure our League 1 status with a game to spare. Need to make sure the same mistakes don't happen again, which resulted in the sad but correct decision to sack our greatest ever manager. We have a good young team but need the confidence put back into us which Keith had sucked out, but it seems Brian is going a long way to restoring it back into the team.
Tactical Overview: Relatively happy with the way we play, although it began to get quite dreary; we actually had the 2nd highest average possession of the entire League 1 last season with one of the lowest expected goals, showing how we have a lot of the ball but do very little with it. We began to show a bit more penetration when Brian took over but this ability to pass the ball forward when the opportunity arises still needs to be worked on.
Plans & Priorities for Preseason: Get the young lads like Rathbone and Morley to sign their new deals and instead of signing a lot of sub-standard players, go all out and spend a bit more on wages on higher quality players. A right-footed centre back and a left back are the priorities, but I feel we also lack any real pace out wide or up front, so a speedy winger and a striker to lift all the goalscoring pressure off Henderson would be ideal.

Good combined job by DaretoCalvin and Chaff.

Sound like two 70/80's rock bands.

I am a Calvin too by the way.
