Hi 20:01 - Jan 23 with 2363 viewsButlerlegend

Bury fan in peace, just thought I would have a browse on this forum with the game coming up this saturday.

Anyways I have not come to argue or rub it in your faces about your league position etc etc.

Me like a lot of Bury fans hope you stay up and lets be honest it looks like you have the right man to do the job in Coleman. He might have limited time to sign players but as long as he works the loan market well then you would imagine he can make a few changes in your side that can make the difference.

With regards to saturday am guessing/hoping we could be bringing 17/1800 maybe more, hopefully with the new managerial appointment and the fact its a derby might mean your home crowd takes a good boost which should make it a good atmosphere. Anyway obviously I hope your revival starts after saturday of course, though I would not be to disapointed with a draw. Personally I like alot of Bury fans I have spoke to think this has home win written all over it, mainly as Bury have a tendency to lose against sides in poor form (notably that dreadful stockport side of last season managed to do the double over us.)

Hopefully I can look forward to a good long day on the beer and hopefully 3 points for us, though I am not holding my breath. All the best after saturday, genuinely hope you stay up and remember its only a couple of wins and you are out the drop zone.

KEEP THE FAITH....UTS

Fair play sir.

I hope we see a different Dale side on Saturday, one that's playing for the jersey, now they've a new boss to impress.

You lot have done a steady job this season, so it'll be a tough old battle.

I still cringe at some of the numpties on here that tipped you lot for the drop before a ball had even been kicked.

It'll take more than that post to fool the FG's into thinking the game has got 'Home Win' written all over it! Nice try though, and welcome!

No different to the Bury numpties who tipped dale for the drop before a ball had been kicked last season.

There will always be the rivalry and no doubt on saturday I will be joining in the banter and chants as both sets of fans wind each other up its all part and parcel of derby days. Let it get all heated and what not in the stands and then we can all go and have a few beers afterwards in the many pubs leading the way back to my bonnie home town of heywood. (Am sure the police will be being heavy handed to avoid any trouble, always the case these days).

Thing is obviously it will be in the nature of the match/rivalry for us to sing "going down" but who would I rather be looking out for on the fixtures next season? Crawley or dale and I think most Bury fans agree with that sentiment.

My grandparents were both dale fans and I did use to frequent spotland on occasions (only when Bury were away like). Saw some great games at spotland over the years. Never quite felt the same as going to gigg (my spiritual home) but still always good to sit amongst your fellow die hards and true fans.

United vs Valencia in the warmth of your home on ITV4 or what ever or Bury (or in your case Dale) on a cold tuesday night witnessing a 0-0 draw in freezing, wet conditions?

Only ever one winner.

The Dale grandparents clearly explain your semi-normalcy

Hopefully it's upwards for us - we can't really go any further downwards (not until May at least)!

So is it only Bury that most Dale fans hate (me attempting to keep this thread going) or is ther anyone else? Always been under the impression Burnley were the other side you hated whilst Oldham and Halifax have been decent derbies for you down the years>

Burnley was the side for fans from that era. They really were an odious bunch when in the 4th Division from '85-'92

Bury and Burnley passed like ships in the night in that summer of '92, but even then Bury wasn't really a rivalry until a couple of years later.

What he said.

I remember when it was us and Burnley in with a shot of the play-offs. They really were unbearable.

I have fonder memories of the Bury derbies of the 90s - except a 3-0 drubbing at Spotland when they had that horrible green and purple away kit.

I despise Notts County more than any side in the league if it's any consolation to you lol. I've always found Bury fans to be pretty fair and level-headed (aside from the few idiots that you get with every club) and I wish I could say the same about Oldham but they're another set that really get on my Tommys

The modern pioneer of mealy mouthed bollocks.

I was sat in the dale end in my bury scarf and hat with my grandparents, would have only been 7 or 8. Same season you knocked us out of the auto trophy at the northern semi stage, 2-1 should have been 4 or 5 to dale that night.

Alot of the older Bury fans as you know will always say they hate Bolton, one of my mates whose a Bury fan despises Burnley with a passion, never known hatred like it. He has grown up in rossendale and had to contend with Burnley fans labelling him not a proper fan "as he has never seen a 25000 sell out watching his club" or words to that effect. You could not make it up.

Would love to play Bolton again in a league or cup match but in the mean time as a rivalry, but ther are plenty of other sides I hate, Oldham, Burnley, wigan, crawley, Notts county. Suppose with Dale its like a respected dislike if that makes any sense

I hate Sheffield United for several reasons.......not just cos of what they did to West Ham v Tevis.

We have lots of horses and our alpha mare supports Barnsley. Although she is my first (and favourite) she might not be very popular the way the Tykes have treated Dale lately (taking our mangers etc). In our collection we have a bury fan but he must be seriously misguided because he also supports Sheffield United. Poor thing.

looking forward to saturday now, certainly adds a bit of spice to it with you having a new man in charge, we're a completely different proposition to the team you beat earlier in the season, expecting a close game with victory by one goal for someone. Are all the pubs gonna be open around the ground before match for a few scoops or are we gonna have to go into town centre for a drink?
